I appreciate your plays of the coin (and similar) games. Seeing and hearing your struggle with overall strategy helps me get them to the table.

Glad you are covering the game! The contrast on the pieces will be improved in the second printing.

I passed on this game. I wasn’t sure if I could solo it or not very well, but it looks really good. I may just have to give it a try. I appreciate your videos!

I appreciate your thoughts on how eurogames obfuscate in this video. It’s a really good point about how too many “interesting decisions”- a phrase usually used as if it’s an unqualified good, can get in the way of strategy. I think the criticism holds that a lot of games these days are just puzzles with a sort of flimsy foundation of strategy underneath.

Looks interesting, hope you have fun with it after some of the struggles you had with some recent games.

It is ok to try different "levers" initially. This is not a 6hours game, so, with a few plays in, the understanding of the strategy will start to emerge. And, lets see if the design can hold up once this level of skill is reached. Have fun! (for the Zenith of the Delhi Sultanate, the Moon and Sun icons on the cards are not control, they are Influence level [that applies to every time you see these icons on Events or Actions] . So you get Horse/Resource based on your Influence + Structure).

It just feels to me like the most basic functionality of the game is being obscured. Most modern euros are not 6 hours games either - but it doesn't make them any more enjoyable to have the simplest parts hidden behind a mental paywall.

@@calandale Agreed, "learning curve" is a real thing... Lets see how that goes in the next successions! If the plans were right! The decisions cannot be too easy to make... and that even if you know what to do. This is what separates artificial difficulty and deeper tactic/strategy (and ultimately having fun making each decisions). It can be difficult to judge from only one game, but I think your comment make sense, especially when you want a game that is more accessible. That was a really fun video to listen to. edit: you cannot screen a natural 1 in a battle.
