There are lot of videos on youtube misleading buyers of sapphires or sapphire jewelry telling them the color of sapphires which are actually misleading. Please be cautious and educate yourself before buying a gemstone or jewelry.
In this video we will compare different color of sapphires like Royal blue, vivid blue, cornflower blue, pastel blue, violetish blue, just blue, etc
Royal blue sapphire - will have vivid blue saturation with good color reflections (sometimes will have little black overtones but not too much- else it will be classified as deep blue)
Cornflower blue sapphire - will have medium to rich blue saturation with almost no black overtones. They have a wide range of color clarification for cornflower blue.
Pastel blue sapphire - will have light (low) saturation of blue
Always look your sapphire in different lighting conditions to which suits you the best.

Sapphires are the most difficult gems to color grade. Lighting and the individual who is looking at them with their particular spectral range, and how the color banding of sapphire plays in their overall appearance, along with faceting and saturation...... But it sure is fun trying to categorize and describe the colors one sees and the way they affect each person differently. I kinda think those last 3 on the bottom right might be what we here in the Rocky Mountains would call "Montana Blue." Your videos are wonderful. An excellent kashmir sapphire is said to have a color that is Cornflower Blue. But they say that there is also a Kashmir sapphire whose color is the one of a peacock' neck. Is it right?

I think that Peacock neck is a general reference for describing a color- it is usually the in-between cornflower or royal blue (its the bight pure blue hue with vivid saturation).

Yes if there are some inclusions inside the sapphire- with a 10X loupe or a microscope you can tell with the type of inclusions that the sapphire is heated or not.

Usually when the colour is royal blue or vived blue & 100% symmetrical colour in a loop 10 x & stone is clean & sparkling it can be heat enhanced. When stone is un even in colour or has patchs of colour & silk in the stone under 10 xl oop it can be natural colour or no heat treated. how can you tell if you are buying a heated stone or natural unheated stone- I read somewhere that if they are dipped in glycerine you can see a dark edge around a heated stone when it is encased in the liquid.... but if you are just sitting in front of a seller is there anyway to see the difference ?

It is not true that if you dip in glycerine you can tell the difference. You have to check for signs of heating - such as melted silk inclusions or tension cracks, etc. This should be checked by a loupe or a microscope (not naked eye) as inclusions which are changed during heating are often very small and only visible through a microscope or a 10x loupe.

yes, it should be a nice color and lively stone. if its too dark then the black tone overpowers the blue, thus looking more blacker.

Is heating a stone good or not? Does heating make a gem unnatural?

The heating might enhance the color/clarity (this is the purpose of heating to improve the color or/and clarity). So I dont think its a bad thing, as it does improve the stone from its original state. The gemstone after heating is still natural (just speeding up the natures process of the heat/pressure to improve the color/clarity).
