इसे ऐसे भी सोच सकते हैं कि सभी 8 points, α, z^8=2^8 के roots होंगे। इस equation में z को z+p से replace करें तो अब जो z में roots होंगे वह α-p के equivalent होंगे। अब (z+p)^8=2^8 में जो product of roots की value होगी उसका magnitude ही हमारा वह product होगा जिसे maximize करना है। इस equation से product of roots मिलेगा constant-term upon one, अर्थात p^8-2^8. अब |p^8-2^8| को maximize करने के लिए complex number p^8 complex number 2^8 के opposite करना होगा, क्योंकि फिर दोनों terms add होकर सबसे अधिक value देंगे। इस स्थिति में क्योंकि p circle पर ही है तो p^8 का magnitude होगा 2^8, इसलिए maximum value हो गई 2.2^8=2^9=512. (अब यदि कोई पूछे कि p कहाँ होगा तो answer है π/8 के angle पर, क्योंकि 8 बार के multiplication से उसके angle को π हो जाना है।)
