nyc78 I don't think she had a cold, It's possible that she made her voice sound that way since her character as Vicky was very distraught and coming apart before she shattered into different personalities. Such a great actress! I miss this show alot!

@@dariusketchup4781 I remember this scene cause for weeks I was glued watching with anticipation cause it was my FIRST time to see the popular Niki Smith I heard and read about. Viki voice sounded like that cause it was a OLTL storyline where Viki and other Llanview citizens got sick of contaminated hospital syringes needles. David found her in Llanfair during her attack and got her rushed to the hospital saving her in time and Viki and her family decided to let go of doubting David to accept him as family, BUT weeks later Viki got out the hospital and found out David lies and freeing her enemy Dorian from death row for the murder of her late husband / Viki father, Victor Lord.

For those of you criticizing Erika Slezak's performance, first of all the only problem here is it sounds like she has a bad cold and is hoarse. Other than that as always, Erika is kicking ass and taking names in this scene!!! She literally mops the floor with Tuc Watkins using him as her mop, bucket and floor wax!! I mean, it's almost like he isn't even in the scene with her!!! ERIKA SLEZAK RULES!!!

Her voice was like this leading into the full breakdown - do you think it was deliberate? Her voice becoming unfamiliar and painful, as her mental state deteriorated? I always thought so...

Put differently: I thought that the hoarseness of her voice reflected the disintegration of her whole self and her sense of self - she could no longer trust the people around her; she knew at some level that she couldn't trust herself (because mental illness); she chose to try to keep it together, without seeking professional help; and despite her refusal to acknowledge how much trouble she was in, this very articulate woman was reduced to hoarse shouting as a way to keep her cascading disasters at bay.

Erika was absolutely exceptional in these scenes! Her voice inflections, intonation, timing, body language, all of it....just stellar!!

I worried about Erika Slezak during this performance. NOT HER CHARACTER "VIKI", mind you, the actress HERSELF! After this scene? VIKI: "YOU WEPT OVER FATHER'S WATCH!!! What a laugh you must've had... Waiting for your nifty little secret Inheritance." DAVID: "Viki you are making this sound so much worse than it is..." VIKI: "HOW!!?? DAVID, HOW IN GOD'S NAME!!!??? COULD IT GET ANY WORSE!!!???" I told my mother, "she need to go lay down, before she have a STROKE!"

I was surprised when Vicki got mad at David Vickers that she didn't turn into Tommy and try to strangle him or maybe even turn into Tori

It was set up that Dorian technically caused viki to officially fracture into the existence of more altars. Niki existed then it was revealed that Tori actually finished Victor off in 1976 although Dorian attempted to murder but failed. Even Erika Slezak admitted that part of the reason they went so heavy with the did storyline is because both Dorian and Viki they were out of storylines and they decided to properly explain the medical reasons why a person can get multiple personalities and they needed to finally clarify how niki got there
