I love this talk around. I would really love to listen to you give a lecture (like a college level class) about each section, how it works, how it connects to the next section to enable whatever, why the canted nature of things, et.al. To me it's fascinating.

I think you can make them more fuel-efficient if you put the VTech on the exhaust cam only instead of the intake cam. At least on the 2.4 engine

Beautiful engine, Jan. In another video, can you address the fuel use in these engines? Auto fuel preferred? Can you run 100LL? Thanks!
@eggenfellner
@eggenfellner 3 жыл бұрын
You can run auto fuel or 100LL - but if doing 100LL you must use an additive such as decalin or TCP - Auto fuel is preferred, but both okay.

Can these be flown through inverted maneuvers like loops and rolls? Would be very interesting to see one of these powering a Titan T-51 Mustang.

Jan, What would you think of doing a Toyota G16E engine conversion? 268hp at a dry weight of 109kg?

is this the 2.0L turbo engine used in the honda accord 2.0t and honda civic type r with 252hp and 305hp peak respectively? or is the 1.5L turbo found in the base model accord?

Question, does the intercooler exhaust on to the left side of the engine? I see where the air passes through the cooler and into the intake, but the ram air that cools the intake air, where does that go?

Jan ... do you have plans to integrate this particular engine with any of the constant speed props presently coming or in the market ..?? ( or for that matter a reversible prop ) Love what you've been doing ... I hope there is a consistent and expanding market for many years
@eggenfellner
@eggenfellner 3 жыл бұрын
We have a constant/variable pitch prop on it now with our system and DUC, it also has the reverse option. We have some videos showing the setup, lightweight, superior and simple!

Since cars seldom run at the altitudes that airplanes reach, does the ECM have the intelligence to compensate for altitude to turbonormalize the engine as is often done in aircraft? I’m not familiar with Honda’s turbo control logic.
@eggenfellner
@eggenfellner 3 жыл бұрын
Yes it can. The engine has no idea of what altitude it is flying at. It only knows what the manifold pressure is (MAP) and the temperature and from that it can compensate for any conditions. So yes, the engine will compensate for anything you can throw at it :)

I drove this same engine up through mt Olympia and Pike's peak few others! and my power band was perfect stayed the same temp no lag! that why I think it will so so well

Jan, that looks more like a flex plate than a flywheel on the engine... No?
@eggenfellner
@eggenfellner 3 жыл бұрын
It originates as a flex plate, the only purpose we use it for is to be able to start the engine.

This engine looks very nice option. What is the fuel burn rate on climb and cruise? The radiator is include with the engine kit?

with everything show, intercooler, plumbing exhaust, about 278 - the only thing left to add are the radiator, mount, and propeller from there..

Where's the safety wire?
@eggenfellner
@eggenfellner 3 жыл бұрын
Traditionally automotive engines have not used safety wire to retain any of its hardware. This is also true for much of the hardware on a traditional engine such as a Lyco/Cont. Some places you find safety wire and some they use lock nuts and many fasteners are held on by lock washers of various types. New locking methods have become available as well such as, belville washers, nordlock, high-temp nylon insert nuts, various loctites, etc. Safety wire is somewhat cumbersome and time consuming to install and remove. With all hardware properly torqued and using the above methods, we have never had an issue. In addition to all this, the engines run with less vibration.
