In this video I am showing you the process of making a reproduction of an antler comb from Viking age Haithabu. This time I welcome you into my small workshop and the video is filmed in modern surroundings. The next step will be to make a reproduction of a comb using only Viking age tools and workshop facilities. I suppose there is different ways to construct such a comb and this video will show you my way. This is the second comb I have made so I am sure I will get better and learn new ways and tricks as I go.
If you have any questions please let me know below and I will happily answer. I hope you will feel inspired to make your own comb.
The music in this video is all recorded by me playing various stringed instruments. Sadly the guitar part in the end didn't have good sound quality (I didn't plug the cable all the way in) so I had to dub it with an old recording. I recently found an old hard drive with old recordings mostly instrumental that I might use in these crafts videos from my modern workshop.
Recording gear:
2x Huawei p30 Lite mobile phones fitted with Boye shotgun mics.
Normal tripod and gorillapod
Canon Eos 1100d for closeup
Editing on iMac with Filmora

@@RAMUNI-Viking Many thanks for your interest, the Viking Ships have a side Rudder, (Båt ror)in the small boats the boat Rudder is fastened with a terminal Knot made with the rope, it is a Simple Overhand Knot but made in a special round way that makes it bigger can you make a demonstration of it please, it is like a terminal Takle knot but made with only one strand it is very special and rare in this modern days, because aparently there is no book that has this knot explained. Many thanks best wishes

Thank you my friend. The books is called Spurensuche Haithatbu (searching for traces in Haithabu) - complete overview of all items excavated in the city complex of Haithabu (Hedeby) in North Germany (danish in Viking age) - great resscource. Its only in German though and im not that good at reading or speaking German, but the images and pictures of the items is worth it
