I understand the way you feel and never feel like you have to explain yourself, just find your quiet place. Yep, that feeling is really draining. As a teacher and photographer in Asia I felt like this often, but whenever I did the solution to the problem was either find some solitude or take control of the situation and begin teaching someone or creating something. If I'm leading even just one person, I'm happy to let others watch. 🙏

I was really feeling for you on your thoughts of being on display. As much as the history of our ancient cultures must be kept alive, it's very hard to be viewed as some kind of "oddity". There are many who feel that way just trying to live their life in the most honest and humble ways they can. Myself included. I think your videos are exceptional and the skills you teach SHOULD be taught as life skills. Thank you for keeping the traditions alive and for sharing them with not only us here on YT, but with everyone we share them with as well. Much love!

Note to self: See a guy frying bacon in tent with tomahawk...leave him alone. I'm glad you shared with us here in KZbin land. Agree re: Viking battle axe and tomahawk -- I subscribe to the notion that Vikings introduced the weapon to N. America. Bacon grease -- good way to keep the blade rust-free.

To live the way of life of Vikings, is to relive the history of your ancestors, it is not to be judged, not to be critisices, and it is not the way you do. Just enjoy, just be yourself as a great descendant of your illustrious ancestors. To live in the woods, is to be private and to be enjoyed. When you need this time by yourself, just do it. Do not forget that the Vikings were in Canada before any other man from Europe, we have the proof at Anse aux Medow in Newfoundland Canada. You are welcome to visit our beautiful country and see the provinces and rivers your ancestors took when they came to Canada, also, they left their mark with the Natives. Just love your vlogs. Thank you Bjorn Andreas.

Wonderful video... I too have need to be alone when a crowd show up. Some thing about turning a half century and suddenly the need for company is replaced with solitude and the dog! LOL! I don't like it when people begin to loiter around me when I go out for a A Plein Aire session. I find a nice hideaway and suddenly the public comes out of the woodwork! They are not quiet about it, they are constantly gabbing on their phones, to each other and to those just showing up... I think they forgot what a volume button was for!! But great video, really enjoyed it!

Bjorn, I think we are kindred spirits, like so many others that feel the same. When you talked of the uncomfortable feeling of 'being on display', that so strongly resonated with me. You are not alone. 🌷 Lovely footage looking down at the end, on the battle with the long handled axe. I don't believe our Viking Ancestors were near as violent as most think. I do believe they 'could be', if needed ... and were extremely successful at it when they had to be. :-) Wonderful video, Bjorn ... thank you so much for sharing.

I quite like your take on the possible simultaneous development of the tomahawk-like axes in distant places with similar scarcity conditions. Much to the chagrin of my fellow outdoor-types, I often carry a tomahawk head instead of a hatchet. Admittedly far from perfect, it’s like my bow-saw: if it is needed, a handle can be quickly made with whatever is on hand. Otherwise, the head’s a bit like an ulu and an easier carry than a whole axe.

Interesting pt on the tomahawk. One can speculate that there was a cross pollination of cultures when the Vikings found 'Vinland' so chances are the Viking 'bearded axes' were an influence on the native Americans who at that time used stone/wood as the makeup for their weapons.

We all need our own private space sometimes, Bjorn. No apology necessary. The American tomahawk was most likely a European inspired design anyway. The tribes made theirs from stone up until the traders began bringing steel tomahawks to swap for hides. It appears yours was made from a railroad spike, but I could be wrong 😁😉....... I was at an annual local re-enactment festival of 18th Century frontier life in the Americas and a vendor selling 'hawks; the affordable ones were stamped "India" 😂 they were $25 USD and looked pretty close to the old designs so no one notices. I do like your tent, sir. If you have a garage at your house you may be able to hang the top corners of your tent from the rafters and drape the sides over sawhorses or a couple bicycles to spread them out for air to circulate. Using a fan to help push the air a bit wouldn't hurt. You'll have to park the car in the rain, though 😉🙄 I like the fire "pan", it's a great idea. Keep up the good work, sir. Thank you for doing what you do.

This seems incredibly relaxing! I would do this every other weekend if I was there. Except for the horse riding... I noticed your bow was significantly strong then your friends...
