Vikings were known since 500bc to put their hair in such styles to maintain it. It isn't cultural appropriation... It's cultural appreciation. Don't fall into the medias sheep mentality. Try sitting her in front of a movie or TV show with some putty. I have ADD/ADHD and growing up that was the only way my mom could get me to sit still long enough for the two to four hours it took to braid my hair. We did it twice a month and I would have my hair done for the two weeks between.

Learn to braid (not that hard) by using someone elses hair of wool. And use some hair extentions! Plus you can come a long way with some sneaky tricks with back combing combined with pulling of the strands while braiding. But I admid...braiding yourself is hard! Specially if you have to hold up your arms for that long.

I have reaaaally fine hair too. You can't do every hairstyle but not having to hold as much hair in your hands is quite convenient and a bit easier too. Just a tip: if your hair is reaally straight, try braiding it when it starts turning greasy, then it will have more texture. And finer braids, like a fishtail look better on thinner hair because then its more subtle delicate filigree, whatever you want to call it :) I'm actually quite proud if my fairy hair!

Okay, if you noticed the childs hair is actually quite fine but shes texturized it. You can use texturizing spray to do the same thing.

I just love it when people whose knowledge of Europe and its various cultures could fill a teaspoon tell white or European people that they are committing cultural appropriation. I hate to tell you all this, but some of the things you associate with only your culture are also found in Europe. Hoop earrings? If any of this came as a surprise to you, you probably shouldn't be telling white people what to wear when you know NOTHING about the history, cultures, ethnic groups, or genetics of Europe. Study Anthropology and Archeology focused on Europe, then come and tell use what parts of our clothes/hair/makeup/spirituality/whatever you feel like we're stealing from your culture.
