How does your involvement in this program not surprise me Jake! What longevity, the fact so many alumni come back to support and your interview of the principles. Just great all around! Good post!

@@ShredPile Your ease of asking open ended questions and giving the crew an opportunity to share their perspectives, sounded professional to me!!

Hi Jake, yes a great program. Wish they had that when I went to high school back in the fifties. But I learned most of my building on the job with my Mom and her parents when I helped with the construction of our new home on a mountain top in upstate NY. built on bedrock. Ron USCG RET

Love your channel Im from Oregon down in the Medford area. I’ve been a teacher and I find it awesome that your helping out with vocational education teaching the kids the trades. I’ve been to college as well but have been in construction almost 35 years now

Thanks John. I'm always impressed with how the kids get this job done. This year especially as it was an inservice day and they all showed up at some point and put in a long day. Good stuff.

@ we need more programs like this throughout our country kids need to know they can earn a great living by using their hands and their brain. I have led many kids into trade schools and the military to better themselves and prepare for the future and build a life of their own 🇺🇸

More schools should provide this learning experience, so many school districts have dropped their manual trade opting for college preparedness courses instead. As someone who spent most of my career in the home remodeling trade and worked alone so I appreciate and enjoy your channel, Thank you, now that I’m retired I do woodcarving, it’s hard to get the wood out of my system.

A rare thing nowadays, shop classes in High Schools. Shame the public schools have damn near abolished the trades, hope they will return one day. Thanks for the vid Jake! Cheers!

Very enjoyable subject and an architect's first house to boot. I had not seen the stove window bracket before, I don't get out much, lol

Those under counter windows are such a neat look in the kitchen. Down low like that really focuses even the lowest of outside light.

Great video Jake! Enjoyed the music as well. So, are these houses that the Viking HP, are they already sold? And does it help the owner. - monetarily - for VHP to come in and build ? Thank you for sharing Jake. Take care friend.

Jake, who are the houses built for?? Is this similar to Habitat for Humanity?

No not at all. Its a for profit endeavor and makes the program completely self sustaining. There is so much more to the program than this day covers. The teachers and mentors involved with this full time are first rate and the students are involved in nearly every step of the project including the building and installing of the cabinets which are built right in the school shop. They really turn out a great finished product.
