First time I heard Swedish version was the one sung by the great Jussi Björling, the greatest opera singer ever and Tommy did it justice big time! Amazing vocals and so heartfelt. Yesterday he released the English version of this song and it's in another key, so it sounds a bit different, but just as beautiful. Also, his cover of Fairytale of New York with Kirstin Starkey is imo the best cover of that song I have heard

Tommy is a one man band-literally. He can sing, play keyboards, guitars and I believe even drums. And he writes and produces, too. I would love to hear Tommy and Floor duet on this. They both sing it solo. Imagine if they came together on this!

What that song is for you, Gläns över sjö och strand is for me , and I'm so glad he did that one as well. That's an old traditional Swedish Christmas Carol and he does it very well. Merry Christmas from Sweden.

I need to hear that again… well its usually what happens when i listen to Tommys covers. The little touches that he adds to this song makes it so beautiful. He’s also quite skilled doing art. In Majestica’s Glory of Christmas video all the art drawings are done by Tommy himself. 😀

No I’ve listened to this song by him in English and it doesn’t even compare to the version in Swedish, the language definitely adds something to the song. He was built to sing in Swedish, not English.

Oh Holy night was also my favourite Christmas song....until Tommy wrote the joy of christmas 😊. Seriously, this was my very introduction into the world of Tommy Johansson last year for christmas and I never left it. Tommy's voice and his ability to transport emotions specially in his native language is just nothing I have ever experienced before. I am so glad you are back to react to songs. You have a very good ear and hear things that escaped me before. Please keep it up. Have a great year 2023😀

No, Hannes did not play drums. Tommy plays all instruments on his you tube videos. I think he uses Brighton Drums by Fredman Digital (VST software).

So...yeah...the words are slightly different than the usual English, but...they're BETTER! WAY BETTER! In the English version, the song is definitely tuned to the baby Jesus being born, and leaving it there, though invoking worship, yet focusing on the NIGHT being holy. With this one, I would say it would normally be sung for Easter, as it's focused on the adult Jesus being killed on the cross, then buried--only to go and grab the keys of death and hell, then resurrect Himself back at the grave, then fold his own grave clothes and walk out with angels by His side. This is a "KINGDOM" song (the Kingdom of God)...spoken the way it SHOULD be. This is a WAR song, and it's RIGHT! Plus, it's honoring HOLY GOD...not the the night, which cannot actually become holy. Also, Tommy sang it AS a VICTORY OF WAR song, as was clearly correct, given those lyrics! WOW!!! I just went to look up the original Swedish lyrics to see if they matched what he was SINGING, and they do (which I'm sure you already knew, back in December). So...yes...different, but SO MUCH BETTER, than our English, Christmas version. Don't worry, I'm not going to stop singing the English (weaker) version. It's one of my very favorite songs to sing, and now that my voice is almost all the way back, I DO plan to sing it for Christmas. On the other hand, I'm also now going to learn the (English) words completely, for Resurrection Day use! - - - - - - - - - - - OK...all of the above was written before I am hearing the part AFTER Tommy is through singing... ...and now you've finished, and I'm REALLY excited to send you a copy of this comment, on Patreon.
