The carrot is part of a longstanding running joke in the Voiceplay group. Layne delights in teasing JNone with carrots.

Layne is The Carrot Lord always and forever. May his reign be rooted in the ground. 😁🥕👑

Geoff’s wife Kathy was not only production manager but also the “floor zombie”. The “stunt zombie” was played by Gruesome Greta from the Halloween store. Rick Underwood, the make up artist, airbrushed her so she more closely resembled Kathy’s makeup. Geoff’s narration was top notch. It really had to be him to do that part. When J runs to the door, it’s such a typical horror film moment: the victim can’t open the door. I love how his voice is so tremulous like he’s really scared that the guys are going to get him. Oooops! They did!🤣 🧟😳🎃🥕🤧👻😱🧟♂️

Layne as the Carrot Lord is a running joke whenever J. None is in a video. For whatever reason (who knows what goes on in Layne's head?), Layne started teasing J. with carrots well before he left the group, and continues to do it whenever he's back - or even when he's not, as Layne's makeup showed in Classical Chaos, when he had green horns and an orange face to mimic a carrot's colors.

I forgot the monologue, too! But I was still able to recite it word for word along with Geoff. Some things don't leave the festering brains of an 80s kid.

Thanks for coming back to VoicePlay. They are always excellent and great fun! This was Geoff's project and he told the makeup artist that Layne must have a carrot somewhere. Yes, please! More VoicePlay! More Geoff solo too! Last month's release was "Song of Durin," his third song associated with Tolkien's Middle Earth., and it adds a new dwarf character, Gimli, while bringing back the ghosts of Thorin, Fili, Kili, and Bofur from his first two. Wonderfully well done.

Fun fact: the guy who wrote the monologue ultimately done by Vincent Price originally wanted Elvira to do it. But Quincy Jones, who directed the video, personally knew Vincent and asked him to do it instead. Great reaction, Viking. I always love your VP reactions. Definitely need more of them.

I like Elvira, but Vincent Price was definitely the right choice for Thriller. He had that villainous persona down to an art. Elvira was more like a sexy, comedic choice.

While Vincent Price was 'classic', Geoff's accent works better with "...ya'lls neighborhood". That line always made me laugh when Vincent Price said it. Kind of broke the mood. Instead, it feels 'right' from Geoff. Oh! And I get the 'shivers' from the way he says 'shiver'. Two 'favorite' things on this for me. I really love the way they stop the background vocals mid-word on para-lyzed right after Eli's first lines - just as Cesar freezes with his hand up. Bit of a play on the words. And then the way that most of Layne's 'beats' only kick in after he is bitten. As if he's infected with the beat. Can't be sure, but I swear there was a song with that line? Okay - a third thing - I love the 'shampoo commercial style hair-flip' from a zombieGeoff. Cracks me up!

Geoff has done many narrations/audiobooks on his channel. Most are spooky like this one. A few aren't like The Little Mermaid. He has the perfect voice for speak singing and narrations. The zombie on the floor is Geoff's wife Kathy. The doll is Greta the Gruesome. Her face was made up to match Kathy's in case it was seen.

Wow,where does that low voice come from lol love the biting of the leg,this group did a fantastic video,beautiful voices,loved it ❤
@Badger777227 күн бұрын
The "low voice" comes from Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci, one of the founding members of VoicePlay and the man who arranged and directed this video. His wife Kathy was the floor zombie, although she had a stunt double (doll) being kicked away. Geoff has a solo channel, where he does covers for a wide variety of songs, and multi-tracks his voice so he can accompany himself vocally - he has a 5 octave range.

You did actually think about Geoff doing the Vincent Price "rap"! In your voiceplay double feature with Oogie Boogie's Song you said he should do it, and you were right! (I may have been going down a rabbit hole of Oogie Boogie reactions, lol)

You said subtle but good (Geoff's narration of Vincent Price's part). Another reactor I watched (so sorry, can't remember who it was, have seen so many) said that it was not quite at 'evil' as Vincent's, but definitely more ominous.

This cover has been in the works for several years, with Omar Cardona the original choice for collaborator, but they couldn't make the schedules work out. Makeup was by Rick Underwood and Renette Feren. The "progressive zombie infection" was Rick's idea. Having a carrot as part of Layne's zombie look was Geoff's idea. Kathy Castellucci is the zombie that bites Layne. It was her idea, during setup for the shoot, to have Layne kick "her" away. The doll Layne kicks resembles Kathy's character thanks to Rick Underwood's magic and is from Spirit Halloween. They call her Greta the Gruesome (actually, she's Little Greta and Kathy is Big Greta). You looked away from the screen and missed zombie-infected Layne sneezing all over Cesar on the word "Thriller", as well as other story moments. It's important to watch as well as listen to VoicePlay videos! Fun fact: once he becomes a full-fledged zombie, Geoff never blinks when on screen.

🧟♂️🔥🧟♂️🔥🧟♂️🔥🧟♂️ - I think they knew tackling this iconic song was a very tall order... how to pay homage, make it your own, pull it off acapella AND make it shorter (and do a good video). I also think they absolutely did it justice! 🥕🌹🕊

Layne just loves to chase J None around with the carrots! Hence he has 2 aliases Carrot Lord and VioLayne. The floor zombies is Geoff's wife who bit Layne's ankle. She does have a stunt double (Greta Gruesome) the doll that Layne kicks off into the park. You do more and I'll be there.

In wonder why you would think that… I’d I’m not serious about something I won’t post it. I’ve had songs that I reacted to that did nothing to me so I did not post that reaction. I loved this and the vocals were awesome. Maybe because I really compared it to my childhood hero whilst listening?
