Agree, JJ is brittle and wasn't in a throw heavy college program. Not worth the risk UNLESS darnold implodes in the first round playoffs.
@jacksonnorton849518 күн бұрын
Calling JJ McCarthy brittle isn’t fair just because he didn’t really get injured in college. This is the first thing that happened and his knee was so sore. He could’ve still played it just made it worse and on top of that he didn’t get a a second surgery and he never tore his ACL or MCL like people say either the second surgery was more like a cleanup. It wasn’t a surgery. They weren’t redoing anything.
@lukelee317 күн бұрын
@jacksonnorton8495 that's the definition of brittle. No contact mid to major injury against preseason benchwarmers benchwarmer. A healthy Aidan Hutchinson 2x a yr and other elite rushers will blow his knees within a season.

This team has needs in the secondary and interior of the offensive and defensive lines. The $40M a year saved having JJ as your QB permits upgrade a few of those spots and help hang onto some of the current talent. The drop off between Sam & JJ will likely be made up in other areas. I don't even think Sam would replicate the success he's having this year. The system and talent allows Sam to look his best and will make JJ look at least competent. Probably hurts the team a bit in 2025 but makes more sense to go JJ in the long run.

Darnold isn’t Cousins! People assume they’ll let Darnold go because they let Cousins go, but a healthy 27 year old former #3 pick with a rocket arm and improvisational ability is a lot different than a 36 year old system QB coming off an Achilles tear. Kwesi has also been able to consistently identify bargain free agents who out perform their contracts so paying Darnold won’t be an issue.

This is a win win situation we should sign Darnold for 3 years our division is going to be the best division in the NFL and JJ can continue to learn and grow as our backup QB and He can take the reigns in the 5th year of his Rookie contract ,JJ will only be 25 yrs old and physically he will have very little wear and tear and mentally he will be dialed in! Darnold can ride off into the sunset as a Superbowl Champion and a Minnesota Legend !He would already have FU money or if he wants to continue to play he could sign with a team from the AFC!! And The Vikings won't have to worry about the QB position for the next 10 to 15 years! This isn’t the same teams. Those teams got beat by cross, blocking against Miami because they were straight rushers and the other three they were just outmatched because they were super teams going against us. That has nothing to do with Sam Darnald or the fact he went to USC you’re just trying to find little stuff to make a point that’s not there. are we gonna go win the Super Bowl as a Vikings fan? I’m extremely scarred so probably not but at the same time that is nothing to do with anything you just said.
