Also I don't think Borg is so narrow-minded as to solely blame Ragner in this situation. He's just recognizing that of the two, his is the easier kingdom to lay waste to. Horik is the king, directly attacking him would most likely be to attack against a larger kingdom and to anger many of his underlings in the process.

The music score, from the second season on, is composed by Trevor Morris in collaboration with Einar Selvik, who's also the founder and frontman of the Norwegian pagan folk band Wardruna. In fact a lot of Wardruna songs are featured on the tv show. And in my opinion this collaboration really add to the show something more and is definitly part of its succes. Some of those songs are just epic!

Jarl Borg did nothing wrong! Horik and by extension Ragnar cheated him out of their deal which he was happy go along with to keep peace. Ragnar could have broken with Horik and supported Borg, but he didn't. This is a fair and justified attack! What he did was no more cruel than what the Vikings did in Wessex in this same episode. In fact, it is significantly more justifiable.

King Horic had spotted that man with the bishop counting their forces when other members of the vikings either didn't care or didn't notice the scout amongst them. King Horic was fine with arranging a meeting but letting them be starved of information about invading numbers plays much harder into their negotiations than the King knowing what he's up against.

Just FYI ...Bjorn was 13/14 years when he left Ragnar with his mum Lagertha. The was then a 4+ year break. The hunky actor who plays Bjorn in this episode onwards was still 17 years when it was first broadcast. (Edit: Apologies Eeek I think i made an error with the actors age...the actor was 21.. (I think they wanted him big) ...teaches me to for trying to be over clever)

Ragnar would have been content that Athelstan put that cleric out of his misery, because it saved him from intervening himself. Ragnar is beginning to see the Vikings through outsider eyes. He is aware how brutal and self-destructive they can be, but he also knows he stands alone in this.

It might seem like a big jump from Bjorn as a little kid in the previous episodes, but you gotta remember than the show starts in the year 793 and the events in season 1 and start of season 2 goes all the way through 796, i.e. 3 years, and then a further 4 years passes when they're building their ships, so 7 years total. If Bjorn was, lets say 12 in season 1 he'd be 19-20 here, and quite the grown man. :)

Different strokes for different people, i re-enacted the viking raids on Anglo-saxon England for 25 years and toured schools 5 years professionally so my sieve like brain knows a few things about the period. But this is Historical Fiction and many things are changed to fit a good TV series, so it is still great fun to watch. (Even though this series in later seasons really messes up the life of one of my beloved Great historical heroes). But i def understand folks wanting to keep the suspense and excitement of not knowing. I hope i have not given any of the plot away.
