To be fair, Ragnar not consulting Horik and Lagertha was a total diss. And yes, Athelstan and his religion is a giant wrench in Ragnar's relationship with the other Vikings, especially Floki. Lastly, killing lame or unhealthy babies wasn't just practical, it was also seen as an act of mercy, because given the near total lack of medical care, sickly children did often die young. Even Ragnar considering outright axing Ivar would have been kinder than leaving him to die in the cold or get eaten, he loves his children and that's why he was so conflicted.

I totally agree. It's not the baby's fault that he's crippled, but it doesn't take a genius to realize that people back then wouldn't survive very long at all with such a disease. it would be, in my opinion, a mercy to put the child to death before he grows up. remember, this is based on the time period, obviously I don't think children should be put to death because they're crippled in the 21st century.

Gotta give a shoutout to Wardruna for the amazing music in this show. The song in the scene where they all are preparing to leave and walking to their boats is called "Helvegen", "The path to Hel". (Hel is the realm of the dead, so sort of like hell)

Forgot to mention last time: Þorunn (Thorunn) is a slave, that's why she wears plain clothes and why she was acting weirdly with Björn the last episode or two, since Norse men were more likely to take slaves by force (like we saw Rollo do last season), he didn't seem to understand the power dynamics and the situation was pretty awkward.

Poor, little Ivar was said to have had brittle bone disease. It was sadly very common to "put out", or "sætte ud" in Danish, a new born, which had some sort of deformity that could be a struggle for them in their adult life, or if there was anything wrong that could make them have a bad, and unworthy adult life. I can not imagine.. When that little boy screamed there alone, in the cold, even just for a minute 💔

Thanks for the info and yeah it was totally heartbreaking seeing poor baby Ivar set out to die and we know that happened a lot in many civilizations. Infanticide, as disgusting as it seems to us now, was considered a sort of kindness to a “deformed child” and a kindness to the village that would have to “waste” resources on a person they viewed wouldn’t contribute to that village. Ivar the Boneless is a historical figure, though much about him is shrouded in legend and ambiguity. He is primarily known through the sagas and chronicles of the Viking Age, particularly the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle and various Norse sagas, such as The Saga of Ragnar Lodbrok and The Tale of Ragnar’s Sons. These sources depict him as one of the sons of the legendary Viking leader Ragnar Lodbrok and a leader of the Great Heathen Army, which invaded England in the late 9th century. There are several historical references to Ivar, including his participation in the conquest of Northumbria and the destruction of the kingdom in 867. The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle and other contemporary records of the period describe the campaigns of the Great Heathen Army but do not delve deeply into Ivar’s personal characteristics or physical condition, making it challenging to confirm details about his life and the origin of his nickname, “the Boneless.”

I just wanted to say something for the past I don't know 2-4episodes I guess? Ragnar isn't jealous of Björn or wants to put him down, he loves him and the prophecy doesn't change anything on that... I even guess Ragnar is looking forward to Björn probably fulfill the prophecy and he would be proud on his son af! He only was that kind of "hard" to him cause he saved his life in this fight because Björn lost his weapon and would have probably died... I would say it was like more of a "you still have much to learn my son" moment...! ;) PS: Vikings best show ever! Just a small edit because Niki and Steven still ask themselves why Ravens or what does the Raven there or something... Ravens are always a sign of the greatest god from the Norseman: the Allfather Odin! For example the part where Ragnar asked the Seer if Athelstan is still alive and where he is, there was a Raven so to say Odin knows where Athelstan is and the Seer gets his knowledge from the gods that's why he knews he is still alive and by a King Ragnar knows..... Ok just wanted to say that also xD keep up the great work, love Vikings! :O ;)

Don't judge Ragnar and his kin to hard regarding Ivar Boneless. This was a time where even how much you loved your child they also knew that the child would not live or have a very bad short life. For them it was an act of kindness, though not probably done lightly. The love of a child was no less in those days but the loss at numbers that whould horrify us today. It was taken as a natural thing. For many a child wasn't really a child of the family until it reach the age of five, passing through sickness and other accidents. This was yet again not to be evil, but probably to shield yourself of the loss that could come.

You guys are great. if you ever are in need of another show to react to, give The Expanse a try. It's very much like GOT in space.

It is ONLY available on BluRay in the states, all streaming sites has banned the uncensored version, we can't expect them to go out and buy a box set, I really really hope someone sends them one! It would be perfect for them!

Jack Harkin They could give it a season though (like a trial). Season 1 was awesome. There are better shows they could react to, however
