still can't believe an ANIME portrayed vikings more accurately than western media, and full-on criticizes their way of life and addressing that not all Norsemen were vikings and etc, love this anime

I've noticed this with Japanese media in general. I can't believe that I had to watch Fate to finally hear someone say "Heracles" instead of "Hercules". No matter how silly or contrived the show is, they always at least do their research and get things like pronounciations and background info correct. Or maybe watching American media set the bar too low for me.

Imagine watching an entire season of a child being traumatized, with every fight clearly portraited as a bad thing and a mistake, then being mad at season 2 because you thought this was a fight show.

His official statement for why the prologue exists at all was because he was worried if he immediately told the story he wanted to tell without drawing some parallels to japanese and samurai culture and their similarities to vikings and norse cultures, that people wouldn't understand the decisions Thorfinn makes and may not give the series a chance. So the whole prologue exists primarily to be an action packed hook to educate and let people get a feel for what Thorfinn has been through and why he chooses to do what he does in the REAL story. (this is even more jarring in the manga which has similar set up to beserk, where we start in the future during the height of the bloodfueled rampage before drifting back to the "golden age" that led up to it, and then picking up and continuing onwards once the past has caught up to present). Where as the anime is simply told chronologically with a few filler scenes to pad out the transitions. Hell even the 2nd season isn't the full intro but rather him going to the complete opposite direction of his youth, before finding a better balance in terms of ideology that is much more similar to his father's, rather than going to the extremes he did in his childhood and for most of Farmland Saga.

If I was Thors the plot of this series wouldn't have happened because I would've delifed Floki and his crew as soon as he threatened the village. Also I decided not to watch season 2 of Vinland Saga because I got into Vinland Saga because of the action in it, but now they not only got rid of the action, but also made the mc against violence so there's no reason for me to watch it.

@@vladimirvilimonod1258 In this context it's pretty much "anyone from a millenia+ ago with a sick legacy". People been doing sick shit throughout all of history just that in ye olden days people couldn't copy others and had to come up with their own shit. That's why vikings=cool while more recent nations/armies trying to imitate vikings=not as cool. Same for other badass/cruel civilizations/groups in history.
