It was sad to see Sigurd die because I liked all brothers, but I guess his storyline wasn't interesting enough. Bjorn and Ivar really stand out this season and hope that next season we will see more of Ubbe & Hvitserk.

You kind of think of how real Ragnar teached his kids and forged them for as then to have some big ambitions to overpass their father. I believe 100% he was a role model for then all. That's a real job for a man,a fathet,mission passed

While Alfred was the first King of the English ,it's his Grandson Athlestan who is the first King of England . Athlestan take's an Army and go's up the East coast destroying the Danes.Both sides used basically infantry in a shieldwall.However all these series miss out that the anglo-saxons used the spear in the shield wall to defeat the long axe. The anglo saxons are never represented well, in any of the early dark age series.

Pirateer Jade No it shows a piece of fiction written by a talented author. If you want to look at the story of The country that became England . Then , lets start with OFFA , the great king of Mercia . Alfred was an incredibly important figure , but were only just learning that he had an alliance with one of Offa’s descendants However he was written out of history , because Alfred knew the importance of the written word . Don’t forget after Alfred’s line fails , at some point Canute will become king , a Norseman . After Harold is killed at Hastings a Norman a descendant of the Normans will rule again and the Anglo Saxons will be a subservient people . If you want a star of the show , perhaps its not the people of this period , but the fusion of these separate strands that give us the English language , because it’s not until Henry the fourth do we have a king post Hastings who speaks English as his first language .

The invasion of England spells the eventual defeat of the Vikings under king Alfred the great of Wessex in England. The battle of Eddington was the end of viking Danelaw in England.

Edward Reed actually it wasn't until after Alfred died his successor didn't hold to the treaty for peace. Guthrum ruled over east Anglia, Northumbria and half of Mercia. Alfred and Guthrum were able to keep the peace and allow Danes and saxons to live together. the Burghal Hidage introduced by Edward the Elder enabled Alfred's successors to retake control of the lands occupied in the North of England by the Danes. But it didn't end Vikings in any of their occupied territory. Edwards successors though made Alfred dream come true of a one unified England under 1 ruler

Ok im new to vikings I was looking for a fix for game of thrones withdrawal lol but holy shit I love what ive seen so far im always late watching good shows and I always start a series in the middle then I get hooked and go back and watch from the beginning what got me hooked on thrones was the red wedding season 3episode 9 when vikings first came out I thought it was a history channel documentary boy was I wrong the first thing or episode I saw of this well actually it was a clip when ivar was knocked off his chariot kills a guy and then taunts the Saxon army "Do you know who I am ivar the boneless yaaaaaaaa"!!!!!!the first thing that came to mind was I wish the ironborn in got were this savage and second this kid playing ivar is GREAT ive heard about ivar but the way the actor portrays him is epic he's my favorite character and all ive seen is KZbin clips anyway im looking forward to watching from the beginning I keep hearing how savage ragnar is/was I already know about his fate because of my 10th grade teacher mr. Murray always tried to encourage us to read about the viking sagas and I do know that the show is accurate to a point but not 100% but I love how their doing ivar I mean he steals every scene he's in im a 43 year old black guy but when ivar broke down and cried because he wasn't able to get it on with the girl or maybe her words got to him or he craves real love and compassion I fell in love with the character some see him as evil I think it's just ambition and a need to be taken seriously plus he wants revenge for the murder of his mother alot of people like Bjorn and lagertha but I have to go back to the beginning I guess I don't like what lagertha did to aslaug and Bjorn is always talking down to his brothers I guess because he was 1st born but I have 2 questions 1.what is the order by age of ragnars son's 2.I saw a clip where ivar implied the snake in the eye brother was gay is he???

Björn is the oldest son of ragnar. He is 36 in season 5A. Second is Ubbe. He is around 24/25 in season 5A. Hvitserk is third son. He is one year younger than ubbe, so around 23/24 in season 5a. Sigurd is 17 in season 4b. Ivar is 18 in season 5a. Last son of ragnar is magnus. He is the bastard child between ragnar and Kwentrith. It is not confirmed if the two ever had sex but magnus is casted in season 5b so that will mean he has a role to play. If he wasnt ragnars son why would hirst (show writer) bring him back? Magnus is around 16 in season 5b. About Sigurd. Its a shame what they did to this character. They could have made him a great fighter like his grandfather (Siegfried) but they chose him tot be a whining little girl. Sigurds and hvitserks storyline could have been so much better. I dont think Sigurd is gay because it is never explained or shown. I think this is just a lie from Ivar tot humiliate Sigurd.

However Ivan the boneless martyred King Edmund, who is the true Patron saint of the English , St George was imposed on us by the Normans after 1066 . So the saying go's St George but St Edmund for the English .
