Those brass fixtures will be appropriate and beautiful, so much nicer than what you can buy in the big box stores. Trying to order things or get services during the holiday season can be an exercise in futility. I admire your continued work with rescue dogs.

Haha exactly but it never really is that easy! Yes, if it weren't for Anna we wouldn't have this many dogs, I would have probably settled with 2, but they are all fantastic!

We are going to paint over all the ceiling as we prefer having them in bright white. Just joking! Yes we are preserving them all and restoring them, or we have a decorator that is going to help us. It's very labour intensive and she said she would teach us how to do it and then Anna can lie there like Leonardo and polish them like new. @@icemancometh8679 I think that will be very difficult unless we meet up with some relative to the old owner who has old photos. We have pieces of one of the lamps left though, it's basically a 1920's style suspended lamp. But it's ok, we cannot re-create everything and we are not turning the place into a museum, it will be a mix of old original and new things with some of our personal touch as we are going to live in the house.

Yes, unfortunately the wood bit is a later add on, I don't know where the original hand rail went, maybe they burn't it for heating during the second world war but I am planning on restoring the hand rail the way it used to be with a slightly thicker more ornamented hand rail, but, not priority no 1 so it might be a while before that is done! There is a villa in the neighbouring village by the same architect with an intact handrail so I know how the original design looked like.

Please Map all the chasing of pipes and wiring so you never forget when mounting a large mirror or hanging paintings. There does not appear to be a standard protocol you are using. We want you alive and well enjoying your home.

Thank you! 🙏🏻 I do have an idea or a protocol actually plus I will always have the videos to check up on! I have already used them once to see exactly how and where I placed some tubing in the garden. I have also made some notes and will most likely transfer them to drawings in the future. But yes you are right, it's a great idea because finding wiring in these type of walls are different than in normal plaster walls.

Happy New Year. I just wondered if you considered polishing the existing dresser hardware? Or is it an inferior metal? If you polished the existing ones, spray them with some lacquer to keep them bright and shiny. Then you wouldn't have to fill holes and conceal them. Love the Villa Aroldi!

That is not a bad idea! We do have some ideas for our old windows as we really do like them, but yes why not! Time will tell, Ill let you guys know if we decide to do something like that. 🙏🏻

Installing a metal flashing fabricated to shape of that edge on top of the perimeter of that edge would keep water from getting behind the plaster into the brick. Of course the surface on that sloped edge would have to be levelled either with new plaster or cement board ( if that product is available in Italy ). Waterproof sealant might be a solution to use on new plaster application after installing metal flashing. All the best for 2025.

A new design for the decorative moulding wouldn't hurt. Something with a scallop at the top, not a right angle.

Thank you, all of those are great ideas! We want to use the original design but we are going to alter it slightly and make the slope a bit steeper and remove all flat ares where water can stay so that it just slides of the facade, time will tell if it works or not. It for sure will be an episode or three of me working on this, I have already started making the moulds for this even though it's months away. Thank you for watching and commenting! 🙏🏻

Just because of it being as failsafe as possible, whenever a wifi goes down things start to not work etc and we are doing a wired KNX system in the house.

Thinking about your logic re mains electric for the motion detector instead of a Wi-Fi solution. You stated that internet outage was your concern This is not correct. I have had a Wi-Fi Smart Home system installed for 12 years and the system is not affected by internet outages Your internet router transmits and receives during internet outages Seriously you should think again especially when you want to control your heating Homematic is a good system to look at

@@BJHolloway1 No Im not concerned about internet outage, Im more concerned about things dropping wifi signals etc, I have had wall plugs with wifi, lamps etc, and sometimes they wont work and so on therefore I am doing a wired KNX system, it's been around for 30-40 years and is a very know technique which is always evolving so Im thinking it's the route to go. Im not sure it exists in the US, I think the most similar system is Lutron there.
