Christmas decorations are not something I think about but this is probably the nicest display I have ever seen. It's bold without being overdone or eccentric. It is tasteful without being gaudy. This is a class act that justifies its pricing. Thank you for the detailed capture of all of the intricate pieces and historical charms. The food and menu close ups were outstanding. I can't hit the LIKE button enough times.

Let's face it, and I hate to be as critical. Compared with the Great Hotels of Europe, particularly those of London and Paris, the Villa d'Este is an ugly hotel; the guest rooms are atrociously decorated.The public rooms are exceedingly ordinary, bordering on -- hate to use the word -- "tacky," and, on the whole, save the view and the reputation, I could skip it altogether. I have American friends who win "premium" trips there for selling lots of Buick automobiles. Car salesmen! Far better to spend a week at the Four Seasons George V, Paris, The Dorchester London, or similar hostelries of high reputation. Don't write me ugly letters; I'm a hotel snob, and this one just doesn't merit its reputation.

I have stayed there. It is a dump. The bathrooms are gross. The beds are awful. The rooms are literally 60 years old They leave maid carts in the hallways If you need to charge something, there are no plugs I arrived at 9pm and ordered a room service hamburger. It was still frozen in the middle. The GM the next day apologized, but there was no excuse. Why do these stupid KZbinr never criticize? BECAUSE FOR GIVING GOOD REVIEWS THEY STAY FOR FREE
