I am surprised Grandma wasted the coconut water when she cracked it open. If anything, she should have placed it in the chicken coop for the chickens. It is incredibly healthy for them, loaded with minerals, and gives you amazing eggs. The amount of patience, love, dedication this Grandma has is amazing. And the little ones at the end. Always so pretty, and always smiling. With their pretty dresses, and head nods. They seem very happy. I think I am moving to Sri Lanka.

She throws away the coconut water, and then used plain water to make the milk. I think it would be best to use the coconut water itself. It would enhance the flavor but... This is Grandma we are talking about so, I am sure she knows what she is doing.

This is called aasmi in Sinhala in Sri Lanka. No Ida if it has a English name. It is not sweet, or very mildly so. Hence the sweet syrup at the end Now you can purchase at stores as not every has the skill and time to make it. Very popular. I love it. Used to make it with my mother when we were tiny. No longer!
