I want to thank YOU so very much. I have a 5.0 did not know it could do so much. I will be watching video any more times, I learn slow. The person I bought my machine from closed her store. Pfaff should give you a commission for the help you have given. Blessing to you and your store.

I watched your video and I was sold. I wish I lived close enough to have bought from you, because You sold me my new, WONDERFUL Performance 5.0. I've had it for 3 weeks now and I just love it. You're an excellent teacher and a great salesman. Thank you for this video.

I also just bought this machine and told the store they owe you a commission as this video helped me decide. Thank you. Very thorough without being too long winded. (p.s. you really need to pronounce the T when saying foot control. It sounds like you are swearing. lol)

Fantastic video...I'm giving up my Singer for the Pfaff Performance 5.0. I have had so much trouble with button holes on my singer, until I don't even want to use the machine. The machine is only 4 years old, however I do a lot of sewing for other people and I need a machine that can stand up. My singer thread jams up in my pressure plate and that drives me CRAZY. Thank you for a wonderful demonstration.

Fabulous tutorial--clear, perfectly understandable explanations. I was afraid that I would burn out since you said you tend to make long videos, but I didn't want it to end! I so appreciate your skill and a teacher. I just bought my Performance 5.0 today and this has helped immensely! Thank you so much.

I actually liked the way you pronounce foot control it made me giggle all the way through..... thanks for making me smile today

Amazing what I learned from your video, I've had my machine for 3 years, thank You. Just searched quilting info but, your video provided so much more. I do own a Pfaff 5.0 but couldn't remember how to determine quilt settings, how to install quilting foot, but, learned so many new things with your demonstration. I feel like a I have a brand new machine with lots to practice and a broader use..

I've just bought this machine and love it. this tutorial is a huge help. one question I have is where the seam guide attaches for quilting straight, even lines. nothing about it in the manual. any idea?

I’m sorry I made the previous comment. This video is fantastic and I’ve learned a lot. I think that, even I was a high school instructor of computer education, things have changed so much over the past ten years and I haven’t caught up it’s the technology of this machine. Working on that, it’s still that darn reverse. I just can’t seem to master it. Now that I’ve seen the starting and stopping stitch I’ll Give that a try.

I just purchased this machine - I'm picking it up tomorrow. After looking at all the machines out there, I simply could not give up the IDT which I have on my beloved 2140, but it's time for a back-up machine. John, spend some extra time on IDT in this otherwise excellent video. I have a beloved seam guide that screws into the machine. I noticed that the new Pfaffs with the drop in bobbin no longer have the screw holes for attachments?? Luckily, my husband will be able to put one in for me, but not many people have a machinist at home. Looking forward to getting my new machine, and I'll report back on my experience.

I using this machine and is great! I advise that with bulky materials, and heavy works to have a spare one, the cutter is very delicate! He jammed on me and when I opened the screw came off! I managed to fix it wit glasses screwdriver, And I learned to clean every jobs done! A part from this I would say is a lovely machine, just as every new machine in the market they are not strong as the old ones, that why I using this machine only for decorate, embellishments and creative jobs, I will say that I recommend this machine for crafters or creative peoples! Anyway the video above is fantastic!! Thanks

I am looking into bying me a Pfaff sewing maschine, how do you like your Pfaff Perfrormance 5 so far?
@mazz52858 жыл бұрын
It's an excellent choice. I don't regret my purchase at all. I particularly like the automatic thread cutting facility. Normally l'm a Bernina fan but this has so many features as standard compared to Berninas at many times the price.
@evy-annstrand80108 жыл бұрын
Thank you for answering me, I read online comments on a review of this maschine, so many people vere not pleased and had to bring their Pfaff Performance 5 in for service just after they bought it, so I am a a little unsure what to do. I also been thinking Bernina or last choise, Janome, but Pfaff Performance 5 looks so wonderful. Have you had to bring yours in for service or is it running good still?
@mazz52858 жыл бұрын
Yes l read those reviews too and it did worry me. I think though that these were teething problems when the machine was first launched. It has been available for about 3 years or so now and these issue have been sorted out. I have had no problems other than with the needle threader which was probably my fault. I was able to re-align it myself though so no big deal. It's still running like new.
@evy-annstrand80108 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much :) I so value your comments. I have Pfaff Performance 5.0 and a Bernina 550QE on top of my wish list. I will absolutly try out the maschines in a store before I deside, but it seems like Pfaff has more features and costs less than the Bernina. I am glad I can put my worries aside and just go ahead and enjoy the prosess of chosing :) Many blessings from me in Norway

Thank you for this. I bought the machine, the anniversary edition, but it was a long time before using it. Might mention that your arm and hand block the view of what you are doing at times. I noted you put the spool. Plastic piece on with the "extensions" on it pushing against the spool. Does it matter if it is not like that?
@faith18577 жыл бұрын
Those extensions fit into the end of the spool, keeping it stable. It depends on whether your thread has that extra "tube" on the end. If it does, use the spool cap as illustrated in the video, with the extension in the tube.

Great video! How does the Pfaff Performance 5.0 compare to the new Performance 5.2? There are some good deals on the 5.0 now, but the 5.2 has a couple of new features. Is it worth the upgrade?
@pamwalton518610 жыл бұрын
Yes, I love this machine. I was wondering, on the performance 4.2 there is a regular straight stitch #1 and the quilting straight stitch #52. Is there also a straight quilting stitch on the performance 5.0. As the locking stitch for the straight quilting stitch would be great.

I don't live in the area but I do occasionally go out to the bay area. How much is the pfaff performance 5.0 ? Also how does it compare to the singer 9985 quantum stylus touch
@traviss65644 жыл бұрын
Can you tell me the differences between this and the 5.2? I'm one of the lucky ones that has an absolutely perfect Quilt Expression 4.0, would it be worth it to me to upgrade to this or the 5.2? (I don't want an embroidery machine).
@catch3322332211 жыл бұрын
I have a creative performance and having trouble with thread breakage, usually during embroidery. I am sure it has something to do with stabilizer. I am curious, what do you have on the back of that material for stabilizer. On one of your videos you showed the back of the material and how pretty the stitches were of your fancy stitches, but I saw no sign of any type of stabilizer. When I sew my fancy stitches, it butches up so I am guessing I should use stabilizer and what kind is best.

My 5.0 is only 1.5 years old and is skipping when sewing knits. I’ve done everything - cleaning, changing needles (using property Schmetz ballpoint), changing thread types, retreading both top and bobbin, everything. Does anyone have a solution? Thanks!
@brendatroyer51416 жыл бұрын
I’ve discovered that when stitches are skipped it’s usually the needle. You might be using the wrong size needle.

I have this machine, I actually purchased it partly because of this video! So far I really love the machine but I am struggling to be able to do button holes or bartacks with it? It becomes a mess under my fabric and I have tried different tension settings, different thread for needle and bobbin, and I have tried different needle sizes. Anyone have any thoughts?
@jomayor54407 жыл бұрын
I just tried quilting with an invisible thread in the top & however I try to adjust the tension the bottom thread shows through on top. Very disappointing. Is there any way of adjusting the spool tension?

i had a very similar problem with metallic thread and had to adjust my tension to 3 and it worked beautifully. hope this helps.

Great video but a question. Is it possible to free motion using a zigzag stitch?
@faith18577 жыл бұрын
Free motion means you are actually creating the stitch length with a combination of the foot control speed and moving the fabric. It's always a straight stitch only, I believe. I don't believe free motion works with any other stitches, but I may be incorrect.

Can any one tell me how this machine does with thick layers of fabric? For example hemming jeans and going through 7 layers of denim.
@dianakim54269 жыл бұрын
flanaganicole I just tested out sewing through 6 layers of a medium weight denim at a dealer with absolutely no issues. Like butter!
@StrahaoftheRace9 жыл бұрын
flanaganicole There is a special plastic insert (that looks like a bent H) that goes between the presser foot and the fabric when you get to the very thick part of the hem (especially on denim). It helps keep the sewing height even getting you over that bump.

Hi John in all of your demos that I have watched,I have noticed that you never start at the very beginning of the fabric. Is this an oversight.I was very interested to see if the fabric got sucked into the feed dogs, as a certain machine that I bought, ate the fabric all the time.I got sick of this and I am now in the market for a new machine. Please could you do a demo,sewing from the very edge of the fabric or is there one already on video? Mugwa.
