I visited Vilnius, Riga, and Tallinn, I liked it all but my favorite was Vilnius. The people seem to be happy, alive, curious, I found a lot of similarity to the Mediterranean people. Maybe is my impression I don't know. Anyway, also I liked the city, the buildings, the parks, nice very nice. Some theories tell that the tribes of ancient Latin peoples come from Lithuania. They found a similarity between the name of Lithuania and Latin, also the ancient language that has many things in common with Latin. It will be the truth? Maybe, I hope so. Lithuania was previously called Litva. In such a way was called the territory of ancient Belarus and the population of Belarus was called litvins. Vilnius Vilno in the middle ages was the capital of Belarusian land. When this land became part of the Russian empire, the name Litva was presented to the land which was called Zhmudz( the present- day Litva).Stalin gifted the belarusian city of Vilno to Litva. So Belarusian land left its cultural and educational center, its glorious capital!
