Vilter Top end Rebuild. Compressor failed due to the discharge check valve not holding causing liquid to build up on top of the cylinder valve plates.

Nice job! Top tip from me: cover all gaskets with fresh compressor oil and you will remove them on a next maintenance/service as one piece. No scraping required 😀

We usually coat them with a small amount of anti seize and oil mixture. It's great to see that we are not the only ones that do this. This is the first time opening this compressor for us. But like you said it will make the next time a lot easier to remove the gaskets. Thanks for you technical comments. I would love to hear any more ideas you might have.

@@alliancetechnh3368 we just use Lucas red and tacky. Gaskets peel right off. They look almost new

I used to use white lithium grease on all gaskets. They would pop right off next service.

How old was the compressor? Is this maintenance done annually? I'm assuming it was a full day for two people to perform?
@alliancetechnh33683 жыл бұрын
The compressor is 12 years old. But this is the first time I've worked on it. They do have much older compressors and soon they will be inspected as well. Yes it took us both all day to perform.

They’ve been making those compressors for a long long time. I used to see a lot of 12 cylinder Vilter compressors in ice rinks.

There is a feature in the app I used to make videos and it allowed me to do a voice over so I don't have to yell over a loud background.
