It’s hard to find parents that will take your daughter back after a divorce or her husband passing. I was very lucky and love by my parents and brothers. They took my two daughters and I back into my parents’ house. My dad did the rosters calling for our names back into the house. When I was sick for weeks, my parents and sister in law took care of me and my girls. I am so lucky to have great parents and uncles and aunts, families, whom loves us girls like their boys.

I’m sorry but adding 7 people (you + 6 kids) to an already big household is a lot for anybody, especially when you’re jobless too and cannot help out. Divorced at 18 here also with one child. Never in my mind did I ever want to move back in with my parents but I had to because of my circumstances. I got myself out of my parents house within a year and never looked back. I thank them for helping me during those dark times. I am always available to help my parents but they would rather choose my brothers’ help because it means more to my parents. It is very sad and hard being a Hmong daughter/hmong nyab. You got lucky.
