I find this ridiculous and extremely exclusionary and illiberal .South Indian languages r Beautiful yet Vimal wont even attempt to learn one of them.. Insisting that someone speak in Hindi ? Really? South Indian women and men r naturally multilingual cos we respect diversity. I know north Indians who have been living in Bengaluru since a decade and refuse to learn Kannada.

This is tell you all who are outside Tamizh Nadu. Some people in Tamizh Nadu know Hindi to read and write, may be they struggle in speaking because here no necessary to speak Hindi, as Ashwin said. Private schools in Tamizh Nadu they teach Hindi as a third language apart from that here we have Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha from there also people learn Hindi.
