It's Mistborn Monday again, and another day of me trying to fit as many Mistborn-related uploads into this month as I possibly can! Mild spoilers for the first Mistborn series ahead, mostly relationship stuff.
So this is a new and improved version of Vin and Elend's love theme. CAN WE GET A HOORAH FOR LOVE SONGS?! The original video I did for this was barely over 40 seconds long and just had two repeats of the basic motif and chord progressions. And yet, probably because it's been over four years since that upload, that video somehow has over two thousand views. So let's see if we can get this new and improved version to more views than that so people will actually think I'm any good at this! 🤪
This new version includes a wider orchestration, variations on the theme, some figured bass inversions in the midst of the main motif to make the main melody sound like an exact repeat both times it plays, a new melody added at 0:42 that's an altered, major key version of Vin's theme to represent this brighter, sweeter, "Valette" side of her double life, a string quartet intermission at 1:03 to represent those formal ball settings that defined all of Vin and Elend's first encounters with one another throughout book one, and various intervals between statements of the theme to flesh out the piece. 😊 This version is thematically centered on their relationship in the first book, with all the flirts, secrets, and ballroom encounters and whatnot, but as you may know from other videos, the main motif encompasses all the first series.
I actually was planning on doing a different, all-new song for today's upload, but when I realized I couldn't finish writing it in time, I started this reorchestration a few days ago, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. I think this one of the better Mistborn songs I've done, and I hope you guys like it too. So enjoy this lovely little love song, and I'll be back for more next time!

My wife and I finished the mist born trilogy just a couple of days before our first daugter was born. My wife listens to this song almost every night to put our daughter to bed. She loves the feelings of the song and she loves the sound of it. She has probably listened to it probably a 100 times. Thank you so much for this song. It has added to our family.
