I get what they are saying, but some modern cars do it right. I can turn everything off in my SS 1le Camaro, there are even multiple different levels of traction and stability aids, but if I want to switch my brain off, or put a novice in the car I’m good that way too. I also can’t live without CarPlay in a daily.

I think the Ford GT really sums up the era - no traction control, no stability control, no driver aids besides ABS, no drive-by-wire throttle, just an overbuilt underrated easily tunable engine without variable-anything, in front of a 6-speed in a metal chassis with good ol analog double wishbone suspension. The late-'90s through the early-'10s was the shit, ultimate drivers era(in part because there was pretty much a 'drivers option' at every price point)! I mean, we're still living in the golden era of the gearhead, make no mistake - factory cars with more HP & chassis & brakes & tire than ever(the whole "slower cars are more fun" thing is overrated), plus building big power engines is more affordable than ever, and any blue collar gearhead can get into a full featured standalone EFI if they want(Holley's Terminator X is amazing for the price, has turned a lot of carb guys into EFI guys), etc. - but the OEMs really did strike an amazing balance with most of the factory enthusiast cars of that previous era no doubt.

Funny story, true story: it was the seats in and Evo 8 that made me finally go see a chiropractor. i was in sales at the time and had some time at lunch so I stopped in at my local Mitsu dealer to look at the Evo 8 they had in the showroom. My company car was a Ford Focus wagon. The seats were absolute trash and killed my back. I kept a half roll of toilet paper in the car to uses as lumbar support. When I sat in the Evo 8 Recaro and leaned back in the seat all the pain in my back went away. The FACTORY seat was so good it aligned my back properly relieving pain. That was day I decided to go see a chiropractor.
@SavageBunny12 жыл бұрын
I've always had BMW's with lumbar support (not all BMW's have it) never had back problems, I bought a prius because I drive alot for work, I started having back problems, I thought I was my bed, bought a new mattress, didint fix it, till one day I couldn't walk for 2 days, my back hurt that bad, started driving my BMW again after it sat for 4 months, I realized it was the lumbar support, the prius didint have that, it was messing up my back the whole time.
@scottgas12992 жыл бұрын
@@SavageBunny1 my '85 and '86 MR2s had fantastic seats, until they got really high miles on them. Adjustable lumbar, adjustable side bolsters, adjustable head rests, and adjustable lower seat cushion. My '07 Xterra has adjustable lumbar but my 2019 Civic Si doesn't. Makes no sense. The Si does have heated seats though. THAT part really makes no sense considering the lack of adjustable lumbar. The Toyota "sport seats" in the MK2 Supras and Celica GTSs of the same period were even better. They had an adjustable cushion under your thighs that went in and out for longer legged people, which I am.

Toyota had the yaris T-sport, corolla T-sport which both were optional with TTE supercharger in Europe. The T23 celica T-sport and zzw30 MR2 are also bangers. All cars named above also have a great aftermarket support and there are plenty of nice JDM goodies to get due to their JDM versions which were different named. So was the yaris called a Vitz. The Vitz RS was the same car as the yaris T-sport. Big difference is that the vitz RS was optional with a turbo from the factory unlike the yaris T-sport. I have a 2002 Toyota yaris T-sport myself which I'm supercharging at the moment. Also gonna do some handling upgrades like a rear anti rollbar and a strutbrace for the front. In combination with its lowering, wider wheels, tires and light weight it's a great little hatchback that eats corners like nothing.

Hert is living the dream and buying up all those JDM hero cars we all want, and then putting his own flair on them, fuck the haters, fuck the investments, just building his cars how he wants. Vin meanwhile is going for his dreamcars, while also kinda trying out new stuff it seems, and while the now-standard process of relatively quickly selling off cars to keep down clutter personally hurts me, it's still exciting seeing what new toy he's picked up
