I agree! I get tired of KZbinrs that just take their car to a shop with a bottomless budget and just have a custom interior overhaul. That would be nice but its nice to see tricks like this for the everyman or everywoman
@kings38037 ай бұрын
@msb8111 I wasn't. I like the murci interior but I see what your saying. At least this way it's something we could all do to make your leather look different. I have seen people do this and make it red and it looks good.
@vin_tra7 ай бұрын
Yeah that murci interior is amazing. This is more who I am and how I do stuff. Sure I’d like a baller full oak green suede setup but also this is nice and cost me 100 bucks and like 4 days of my life.

Great video guys. As a Leather technician for the past 23 years, one thing I might suggest for any future projects is to apply the first coat with a sponge, then apply the next few coats of pigment using a professional spray gun (and compressor) on low volume/low pressure. leaves a more consistent finish and is much faster. Apply a top coat sealer is also advisable even though the take-home kits say they incorporate it into their mixture, a decent sealer just makes the finish last long and is much more wear resistant over time. Other than that great job!!

Voting to keep the seats! I think the white accents the passenger kick plates/pedals, center console, head unit trim, and speedo trim. It breaks up the interior giving it a classy feel (shows that VW kid heritage) and not in-your-face boy racer red (even though that's what all the Subaru boys do). It's dependent on what you change the exterior color to, but I dig how the interior looks (except for that hand brake).

It's been over 10 years and they dont even have a scratch or a fade. Very impressed. I went from Tan to black on the lexus and a dove grey to black on my truck. So rewarding. Not to mention you are saving 1000's of dollars!

Don't you dare swap those seats out! For the headliner you should go with a thinner insulation and get a piece of dry carbon fiber and epoxy it to the insulation. Or maybe go for "forged" carbon. Might look pretty good Actually the headliner kinda tilts down around the sides. Might be difficult to replicate those forms with carbon

@vin_tra Hey you're a good dude, I (kinda) like the videos you're putting out. BUT DUDE I get it your a little add maybe, but the cutting and jumping and moving of the camera frame EVERY 2-3 SECONDS, is giving me slight motion sickness. It's not necessary and truthfully takes away from the video A LOT. Now I only watch your vids if it's something I definitely want to see. In the first 2min of this one, I already want to turn it off. But I really want to see the leather being dyed and headliner fixed. But I'm probably going to have to watch in 5-10 min segments, so I don't get motion sick....

What a glow up actually! The easiest detail I was curious about was the silver door panel trim, it just looked very 00s in a good way. The same way how the 996 interior looks completely sci-fi today, that's the only part I'd go back to but at the same time goddamn that looks Good! I feel you so much with 5:50, I got my Mk5 Golf and I genuinely didn't do any disassembling of the interior for the stupid little details it needed sorting (the airvent knob needed the entire center console to be disassembled, fucking VAG) as such it had no squeaks whatsoever. Kept it clean, sold it for a profit. My friend with an Octavia, on the other hand, disassembled his entire interior for no apparent reason and the entire thing squeaked like a drafty shed. Interesting to see how rough and unfinished the 360 looks under the skin, my E36 when I took the headliner out looked really well screwed together under that!
