@vin_tra I completely understand how everything is different when you basically loose your team or your people… but bro you got DDE @dailydrivenexotics who seems to always have your back and it feels like there’s a real connection when you guys link. They got space to fit you in their garage! You should really think about working alongside them, if they’re willing to that is. I don’t know why they wouldn’t because you would totally bring a whole lot of new viewers to their channel. Of course you can still do your own thing Vin, but it could be a pretty good idea for you guys to work together and do like weekly or biweekly collabs

Dude this is one of the best 'race car' vids on YT cos its so real - really building and developing a vehicle is HARD work, and a lot of it is unsatisfying, development always means some wrong turns. When people talk about the 90/10 rule, they arent kidding. Please keep up with the project, and show us not just the project but just how freakin hard that last 5% after the 'build' that everyone glosses over is. Also - dont rob yourself of the win at the end - when it finally works =- its SO good.

I don't really agree with your statement at about 32:15, we as viewers got something out of this. First off we got 30+ minutes of entertaining car content. Second, like you and Chase were talking about, this is what building a track care is REALLY like. I use to work at a performance shop that also did track support for an endurance team and there's almost always something that needs tuning or fixing. Its truly never ending. It's refreshing to see a build that gets slapped together and "works" flawlessly right off of the lift. Seeing the real ins and outs of a true track car build is just refreshing and nice to see. I would love to see you hold onto this car and eventually take it to Road Atlanta, but ultimately it's your choice. Thanks for the great content so far Vin.

"I'm never gonna financially recover from this." - Tiger King Sell it. Get something that isn't such a basket case and build it with the intention of being a reliable trackcar - instead of trying to repurpose a different build which compromises the design base. The other reason for selling it is that you're likely gonna be doing it solo without your buds helping you along the rest of the way. Get a different (maybe same) chassis, and start with reliable trackcar as the goal - bring all your friends along for the build and document that. It'll be fun and refreshing. This car just sounds like an endless money pit of frustration that you'll mostly be doing solo. All of that said, thanks for documenting and sharing the journey. This vid wasn't a waste at all and was great for a lessons learned for those of us that don't have the time and money to be able to make these mistakes.

I’ve had this issue and it took me a while to sort it but…. we were running E85 and it was left in the tank for a few weeks which started eating away at the tank. It was aluminium but we had anodised it inside and out to protect it. What we forgot was the baffles having a steel hinge pin that affected the anodising process. Bottom line, tiny metallic particles , small enough to get through the filters! This was killing the injectors! Swap the injectors around and see if the fault follows? Don’t give up, these issues are fixable.

Love this build, love your fleet, and very cool for you to partner with them. I am building an e39 street/track car w/LS3 and terrified of oil starvation. Not to diminish product selection, but I am considering an IAG air oil separator which takes all the blow by and - - hopefully -- excess oil which pumps to the top of the heads, and can route it back to the oil pan. The separator has hot coolant which helps condense oil vapor for gravity oil drain to pan, and vent fuel vapor and water back to intake or atmosphere (magically change diarrhea back intake useful components). This of course with stock heads. Probably the Smeding dude already solved the notorious LS3 drainback issues for you with better heads or something so maybe not an issue.

Spark misfire can happen to any project car on any level. I had a similar problem with my holley sbf coil pack setup. My crank trigger gap closed up when it got hot. I added ten thou gap to crank trigger, and it solved my problem. Also, I rebuilt my cam sync/crank trigger harness with shielded wire. It didn't solve my problem. Checked all ecu setting, didn't solve my problem. Checked all my timing settings, and I didn't solve my problem. Bought a new crank trigger sensor to replace my new crank trigger. That's when I found my sensor made light contact with flying magnetics on my innovators' west balancer... stick it out. I'm a no body construction worker, and I figured my $hit out and learned a lot in the process. This is how you grow.

Have to admit I'm curious to see more of Ron's Evo didn't you brought it up and showed it off here. Happy to see it around, but for perhaps a very odd reason! I do QA testing for racing games on the side, and in one of my tests I realized the car I was testing was Ron's Evo, well before anyone had seen it yet because so little footage of it exists in this state. Please don’t ever loose the authenticity!🔥 As for the e36, I personally think you should knuckle down and get it dialled in, by whatever means! Once it’s dialled then you can make a decision on its place in your life. We all have/had them projects were it fights and fights and fights, and you loose all motivation and heart in it, but it’s just not in us car guys too give in when the going gets tough! These are hardest times but also the most rewarding… and heck, who here wants an easy life anyways😂 if we did we would all be daily driving stock Hondas and pay garages too maintain them. 🙃

My 2 cents: if I understand it correctly one of the reasons you sold the Rx7 was because you didn’t do anything to it relative to the other cars you owned. It lacked that element that your own sweat and tears went into it, correct? But this car you’ve put a lot of effort into it, but are not sure if it’s worth the struggle? So it’s completely the opposite of the Rx7, while the Ferrari sits right in the middle. Do you want more of in-the-middle builds? Cars that are just a few mods to enjoy? Totally fine if that’s just the case and if the Porsche is the main car you push yourself on the track that totally makes sense. But this car is unique to you and something we’ve all enjoyed watching, even off days. Watching you tackle a variety of builds is inspiring and something I look forward to watching, so my vote is to keep it and make it work.

You may have already solved your braking issues. Although I would have kept the ABS, it could be that your wing was producing too much downforce relative to the front. But now you've upsized that splitter, and that could have solved it. It's also behind the rear axle which means that if the aero balance is off, you could be producing lift in the front via the downforce in the back. Once it runs again I'd suggest trying different wing angles with your braking tests. Unfortunately you can't move brake bias at all with this setup really, you can only trim off rear pressure with that valve. So you'll have an uneven brake bias per speed if the aero balance isn't perfectly even. The misfire is probably something stupid, check connectors and stuff. Probably something didn't get plugged in all the way under the intake, or you've got a vacuum hose to a MAP that got burned through or something.

I'll bring out my 59 Corvette Resto mod to rip with you. Talk about growing pains the 59 has been 3 years in the making but totally worth it plus it's worth a bunch of cash now that it's dialed in. Stick with! Quitters never win.

Everyone with a project car relates really hard to the struggle, self doubt and frustration you showed here. It’s real. Your life is like my life and it’s relatable. The instagram effect style “oh look bought a new car look at the widebody and new wrap wow it’s so great” shallow facade isn’t deep enough to really engage a community. As someone above me said don’t rob yourself of the end result either. We want to see you see this through. You’re a real person channel now not the media machine of Hoonigan where every episode has to be a new vehicle. Come back down to the every man level and keep doing you man.

You really put together amazing videos Vin. So many little tidbits that help with our home builds from real people and drivers not just companies pushing their products. Everything from total unobtainable dream cars to dirty beat up burners… but all amazing cars. Pushing through frustration and issues… admitting to mistakes… all the things most content is missing. #posthoonperfection

Can totally relate to the crazy build kicking your ass. I recon you should enlist the Chase Bay boys and get it sorted though, even if the end result is to sell it, a running and proven vehicle is worth so much more than a fresh build. I feel like it is unbelievably close.

Really enjoyed this vid. It’s a more realistic view of what it takes to have a car like that. It’s not all perfect shots and burning laps. Keep it up, Vin. Enjoying the content.

Use the off season to work out every problem you have and test it out when you get the chance to take it to Alabama or wherever. That way in come next track season you will have a dialed in car to rip? This was the car content I've been needing for a long time, Vinny. Thanks, man. It's a journey for sure to build a race car and I think you're already there, it's now just a matter of ironing out the problems and dialing her in to be a real ripper.

That title hits close to home. Something I've asked myself before building an e36 328i in the early-mid 00s. Not sure if it was worth it. Car wasn't as fun once it was fully built. The parts available at the time made 1000+whp almost un steetable. It was the most fun when it was making 700whp on the stock engine. Living in fear of what's going to break next and how much will it cost stinks.

Dude you have to finish that thing. It’ll be a freaking weapon! Such a great build! Struggles are a part of car culture and watching someone persevere through the pain is where it’s at. As Donut would say: “Cars are pain” You got this.

This is teeth cutting my man! Keep it and get it dialed and leave on a transport truck and go get lap times on all the great American tracks. It’s a known platform so the support for it will be immense where ever it is and you’ve already put a lot of hard work and money, which no one ever sees a return on the monetary side when selling, into it. This isn’t wasted content it’s real content and you are great and showing humanity in your humility! Send it to chase and do bucket list stuff with it and fall back in love with it. Do all the things you want with it and by then your channel will have grown and once you’ve done all the things with it and wanna sell it you know you are selling an amazing machine for one and two you won’t look back and wonder because things were done. Great shit man keep it up!

Content wise, I believe you dialing this car in & making the trip to Road Atlanta is going to be a lot more fulfilling than selling it off immediately. Although, it helping fund other projects is appealing. You could always sell it later if need be.
