So Your feed back is good however one thing to consider here. Is Joe (lead singer guitarist), and Mario ( brother of Joe Duplantier and drummer), their mother was on her deathbed when they wrote this song. It's basically about her dying and they have no more time with her and also the anguish and pain from not having time to reconcile hardships she endured and also not being able to say good by to her.

Man, I had tickets to see Gojira & Mastodon earlier this year here in NZ, but after an immense stuff up with both the bands' gear being shipped back to the States from Australia instead of across to lil old Auckland (thus causing a mad scramble around the city on the day for lending a bit of everything just so the show could go ahead) they ended up starting the show an hour early. Of course me and my mate had no idea until we turned up at the arena just as Gojira were finishing (and by all accounts they were off the chain!!!!!)..... 'tear Mastodon were immense themselves, but damn missing Gojira gutted me :( and no doubt will be at least a few years before theyake their way back down this way again...

The arpeggiated figures in the main riff, Both guitarists are using Whammy pedals or some other harmonizer effect. You can set it to a separate interval or octave from the note you're playing. Dime did use a Whammy on a ton of Pantera and DamagePlan songs. He usually would set his two octaves up to hit extremely high notes a guitar can't orherwise reach. But these dudes are definitely using a harmonizer of some sort.

I think you hit the nail on the head with the him trying to fix himself. I can relate to that currently. Did some things I completely regret and I'm hoping that the other side will have the patience to not lock the door on me and give me a second chance. I feel the stranded in the night/cold could be the guilt and alienation that comes with it. It falls into context with the noise inside(overthinking due to guilt). And it's hard to silence those voices/thoughts. Great analysis though, thanks for things to think about! When you do the next Gojira, I would ask for L'enfant sauvage.

This riff also reminded me of Dimebag when I first heard it last year. You're right Vin. Gojira are fans of PanterA so it's a tribute. Which is interesting that they did that on the one song about their (singer and drummer) mother's passing. Cancer I believe ("A growing sickness in the heart, defective lack of control. The cure is somewhere in the silence, but I'm crushed by the noise inside". This song has very profound lyrics when you know what the song's about. Cheers guys. OMG! I think I've never agreed with Vin more then here: I have been in a relation where my boyfriend put me in the center of his whole life. Maybe for someone on the outside it may sound "romantic" but for me it was hell. No matter how much I loved him in the beginning by the end I just got so tired of always being the one "responsabile for his happiness". So the more he tried to keep me closer the more I pushed away. Now I see that it was a toxic relation and I feel so much more happy and free. Sorry for the long comment :P P.S.: Can't forget my daily request to revisit Avatar :D!

Alexandra Ionescu this song is about his dying mother vin is almost never near the meaning of the song and his wife is clueless about everything and most times he tries to talk about how much of a bad ass he thinks he is.
@alexandraionescu41216 жыл бұрын
@@EDsavant When you first listen to a song (without any background check beforehand) you're bound to give your own interpretation: music, like any other form of art is prone to that. Personally, I agree with Vin regarding the type of relationship he was describing and why it shouldn't be viewed as "romantic" but rather "toxic", because I've been in that situation. Regarding the real meaning of the song: yes, most (if not all) songs from Magma are about their mother dying, but you have to understand why someone (not knowing that fact) would assume a different meaning. If you look at the lyrics you can see why Vin assumed that's their meaning and I'm sure if you were to tell him the true meaning he will agree with you. I respect his opinion, I respect yours and the ultimate goal should just be to enjoy the music. Sorry for the long reply and thank you for yours.
