Legend, i don't care what anyone thinks, if you grew up watching him tear the game apart you know he is above what people claim him to be.

Yep. He was the man. Seriously one of the greatest. He's like the Barry Sanders of basketball man. Always did crazy shit. I used to only watch Raptor games in 4th quarter when I was younger because he was always pulling crazy ass shit off. He's what got me watching basketball games fully. Love that guy.

VC is a FOR SURE Hall of Famer. He doesn't have a ring, TRUE. But as you know many NBA HOF players are ringless. He has the stats, records, and above all else, what he did for the NBA was revolutionary. Vince Carter during "16 SEASONS" CAREER average; 20 points per game, 5 rebounds, 4 assist. Vince Carter during "9 SEASONS" PLAYOFF average; 21 points per game, 6 rebounds, 4 assist. 25th on the ALL TIME SCORING LIST (more points than these greats; Scottie Pippen, David Robinson, Gary Peyton, Clyde Drexler and last but not least LARRY BIRD 6TH on the ALL TIME 3 POINTERS LIST HOLDS THE RECORD FOR MOST 3 POINTERS IN ONE HALF A GAME WITH (8) TIED FOR MOST 3 POINTERS IN A PLAYOFF GAME WITH (9) 8 TIME perennial ALL STAR (4 times led the league with MOST VOTES) 2000 Olympic Gold Medalist ROOKIE OF THE YEAR ( against Dirk Nowitski, Paul Pierce) (2X) FINAL FOUR NORTH CAROLINA (Back 2 Back appearances)

ESPN hates him cuz his prime was in Toronto and New Jersey. He's probably top 25 really. He's 19th all time scoring. 6th 3pt fgm. On the mount Rushmore of 2 NBA franchises. One of only 25 players to score 50 points in a playoff game. That game is the 7th best playoff gamerscore ever. (To put that in perspective lebron, despite his many more playoff games, still hasn't cracked the top 10with any gamesscore.) Vince is also one of only 6 players to average at least 20 ppg 4 rpg and 3 apg for 10 straight years. Also was the lead scorer for an Olympic gold medal squad.
@mikesannitti60424 жыл бұрын
@DAVID OMWANGE yes. Toronto is in Canada, not the US and was never known for basketball until VC. The Nets were in New Jersey where they had a small fanbase and even less attention because the Knicks were right across the river in New York.

that's the thing. VC's game was complete. He can do it all. explosive, slash, excellent shooting range, create his own shot, excellent passer...etc. I just wish he was a little bit more selfish the way MJ and Kobe were but that's who Carter is. If he had MJ's mentality and heart, with that athleticism, man, he dominates the NBA from '99 to '2010.

Literally was about to type the EXACT same comment. I'd love to see his numbers in late-game situations. I'd imagine they would be better than most players we think of as clutch (I'm a Kobe fan too). Absolute beast when it came down to the wire. I will also say he is one of the most underachieving players ever, in terms of his potential. Very high-caliber player who had a sub-par career.

VC never had a big ego. Ever. If anything, McGrady was the big baby who wanted to "be the man" and you see where that got him. VC wanted to stay with mediocre ass Toronto, and Toronto should be on their hands and knees, begging him to come back and finish off his career because hes better than 3/4 of the players on that team now. Vince STILL has respectable numbers tho

Hownya you share a link with me if you want. The one doing the rounds is ”All Lebron James game Winners (12 total)”. When you watch it, a couple were at the buzzer and the vast majority had the opposition missing with several seconds left. Vince's are straight walk offs with homie.

Depends on the reason you're playing for. I would still play my best because of the competition regardless of how happy I am. Kobe had to play with smush/kwame brown/etc and he still went for it all. One thing that will impact VC legacy is how he didn't dedicate himself to be the best. So much potential that went to waste. Like I stated before, I don't have any issues with players leaving a team fir a better opportunity.
