Because we love the sport, we try not to tear riders down unless the evidence, sources and information make the answer 100% clear. There's no speculating or guessing on this one anymore. Vince Friese completely blasted Christian Craig at the 2022 Glendale round of Monster Energy AMA Supercross, and it just tell us of what we already knew, for certain, for sure.

@Ray Edwards right. Who is going to be pumped with Hunter Lawrence finishing out a championship that way. Nobody wants that, that how you lose fans. Craig could easily be done for the season after a move like that. And it's be a LITTLE different if Friese was battling for the championship, at least you'd understand the move even if you didn't like it. What was the plan? Craig beat him by a half lap the first race, no way Friese is going to run away with that race even if he executed the pass and didn't go down. Dirty, but even worse it was just dumb. Was never going to work and he's going to mess up the championship.

The thing is, you don't need additional stories or anecdotes from other riders to see the problem with what happened in Glendale. In this one incident, Friese plowed into the back of Craig with no intention of (a) taking away the line or (b) making the turn. He went for the kill, not the pass, and that's why he should be punished much more severely than Barcia, Anderson, Musquin, Breece or anyone else that's gone for an aggressive pass this year.

When he was in 459 class he was a lapper the still thought he was in the race not letting leaders by. Then they demote him to 250 but he’s a good starter with second tear skills. So he tries to take out anyone who tries to pass him in hopes of a podium in which he never gets. He’s a liability. Craig could have been seriously injured along with the rest of his victims.

Hey if this was a one off incident or even two or three a year, you might be able to be less critical of Friese. It’s every weekend and has been for YEARS dating well back before the Weston Peick run in. The guy seems to love being known for the crap magnet he is. He dropped a class and still isn’t a podium guy. He’s a fantastic starter and then spends his whole race trying to block everyone going around him. Way too much of a track record to argue now. He needs to go and give that seat to someone with some upside.

Jason...that was so very well said!! One of the most contagious aspects of Dirt Bike competitions is how POSITIVE they are. I'm so glad to be a follower / participant in the sport and hope we can keep the negative vibes and political opinions out of it. There will be times when a sour apple starts to spoil it for the bunch and needs to be called out for it. That's not being negative, it's being factual. Thank you for using your platform to say what so many of us think. I hope both Mike Genova and Tony Alessi watch this video and read all these comments regarding their rider Vince Friese. Mike and Tony have two other riders on the SmarTop/Bullfrog Spas/MotoConcepts Honda team that I consider upstanding...Justin Brayton and Mitchel Oldenburg. Can you imagine the extra mental headache Justin and Mitchel are now dealing with being on the same team with Vince Friese. I hope Justin and Mitchel can maintain a positive outlook and not let Vince ruin it for the Team every Saturday.

As long as more people cheer, rather than boo, the dirty move, the dirty moves will be part of he show. It's no different than Dale Earnhardt in NASCAR. His fans loved it when he risked the safety and lives of others, but screamed like howler monkeys when the same was done to him. The governing body loved the ratings, so they never tried to tame the stupidity.

He had a different rhythm and if you watch as he's doubling into the sand is where Craig passes them and he doesn't see him until the last minute and he goes in for a hard pass and I think it ended horribly
@psychoslingers8732

Yep, this is all because it was Friese doing it and Craig receiving it. Had it been Hunter into Craig, or Eli into RocZen, the excuses would have flown. He also lied, Vince didn’t “floor it” and leave a rut, he locked his back tire up when he knew he f’d up. You can clearly see him do it in slow-mo.

I see all these commentators and riders complaining on Social Media outlets. You do realize you see Friese every weekend. Say all you have to say to his face, Don't be cowards and vent on Social Media. Cowards don't deserve compassion🤷‍♂️ If Friese isn't fast, then nobody should have to worry about passing him. If you are scared to pass someone you shouldn't be on the gate.

If someone gets hurt or even God forbid, permanently disabled, the AMA should be held liable. This is these young men’s workplace. This is where they punch in their time card and go to work no different than a construction worker or factory worker. It’s the AMAs job to provide as much of a safe in environment to work that they can possibly control and Vince Friese is definitely something they can control. If not they need to look the other way and let the riders handle Vince after the races without fear of fines or suspension. The AMA is creating a potential disaster because sooner or later somebody is gonna lose their cool and take Vince out and I don’t want to see anybody, even Vince, get permanently disabled because of the inaction of the AMA.

Weege, our family absolutely hate Vince. He's arrogant, ignorant and predictable. He brings the quality and value of our sport down a notch. How can we expect outside financers to take us seriously when anybody can plainly see what a nuisance Vince is? Every lap he did after the incident, I asked "how has he not been black flagged?" This video is spot on. I'm glad someone finally said it. It's so funny to me how Vince thinks that because he is allowed to participate that he's a competitor and a contender. He's a pretender.

Thank you Weege. I'm an old man who knew better than to ride like this because back in the day there were harsh repercussions for it. Block passing, contact, leaning on someone down the start straight. These are the acceptable ways of being an aggressive rider. Sometimes you gotta move a slower rider out of the way to keep from holding you up. But you NEVER ride rough with someone you can't keep up with. I had a Tyco Racing Set with Jam Car as a kid. Vince Friese is just an obstacle in either class, and putting him in the 250 class is just asking to end a future star's career. The AMA should be ashamed to let it happen and if I didn't know anything about Mr. Alessi and his methods I'd say the same about the team. Winning at any cost isn't winning if that cost is fair competition. THIS is how you race hard, aggressive and physical. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j6DPp4Njacaea6M

High speed super dangerous, paralyzing, bone shattering, ligament, tendon destroying crashes should be looked at in detail and handled differently than slow speed much less injurious passes/collisions/actions. Love this so much, Weege! You are the best. And absolutely right - it's time to call a spade a spade. Friese is dangerous and is stupid on the track and we're tired of watching him spoil the action. No one cares how fast he is when he pulls stunts like that and ruins an otherwise good race.

Couldn't agree more Weigandt. He should not have the opportunity to ruin someone's career: Should they wait until he seriously hurts someone? The best Friese involved incident was with Weston Peick - He got the beating he deserved immediately.

Find a clip of the incident on KZbin, and view it at the slowest speed setting (.25) Then you can clearly see how Vince Friese had no intention of making the corner, and very intentionally rammed Christian Craig. Like so many others say, it's surprising and fortunate that Christian wasn't injured more seriously. and I don't understand how the AMA can let this kind of thing happen, and not do anything about it.

You do not know me, but maybe Davey remembers me. If he does, he will tell you I am NOT always "politically correct"-lol. I would add one more thing, which after watching this, you are well aware of as well- The AMA could screw up a 3-way with their inconsistancy of rule making and enforcement!!! Bogle gets DQ'ed for punting Barcia, and Vince gets "probabtion"? Keep swinging! You do a fine job, thank you for an eloquent reflection/expression of what many have been saying for a VERY LONG time! Im not a fan of Friese but, to act like the line belongs to Christian Craig because Craig has been the faster guy all season is some non contact sport type of thinking. If two guys want to go into a turn like that together, let em duke it out, otherwise find another spot on the track to make your passes. At the end of the day it's just two old dudes battling in a class of kids.

I dunno, do we take a Weege analysis over a Bubba one? Being afraid of a guy is part of the game no? Many riders in the past held this aura or vibe. Being afraid of passing a guy, that's a win for Vince. The thing is, in the past the rest of the guys just weren't as mentally soft as they are today. Remember Kiedrowski ghost riding his bike into Larocco? The Rock at that point was scary, but MX Kied even being a nice guy wasn't about to bitch up. Unfortunately in today's age, we have all this ability with social media to criticize non-stop, to overanalyze, to over dramatize everything under a microscope. Was it this, was it that? Sure, but stop trying to perpetuate the drama. I'll take Bubba's take on this one.

THANNNNNK YOU, Jason. I’ve been saying this for the past three seasons. Go back and look at how many times he’s put someone down, cut over on them in the whoops or over jumps. It’s ridiculous. If he was really fast he wouldn’t have to constantly ride defensively. I’m sorry, but like I’ve also said over the past three seasons, he needs to lose his license. I’m sick of seeing that idiot week in and week out causing havoc. EVVVVVVERYTIME.

How was what Friese did any worse than what Anderson did to Roczen? Watch both with an UNBIASED eye? How many incidents has Friese been involved compared to Anderson or Barcia? If you watch the other motos that was the line Friese took the whole night. If other racers don't want to pass Friese they need to get better starts.

I love Friese because he's a goon. A goon that gets holeshots! Even before the metal grate starting gate he is a world beater to the 1st turn. OK, so he's the equivilant of a range pro on the PGA Tour of MotoCross. But what would wrestling be without heels? Is there any other enorcers out there to knock him off the track? If I wasn’t in NP school I’d go back and watch every heat and main that he’s raced over the past 3-4 seasons. Then I’d make a list so the AMA could see it.
