This is a great film. It is a slow crawl but then it is a film where the character is on a lonely road trip and has a mind full of pain and despair. It accurately depicts that in a unique and beautiful way. Do I think the BJ scene is necessary? No, I don't believe it is but sex is a very real part of a person's memory. It's a very intimate thing that happens between two partners. In that moment you are the only two people in the world experiencing what your experiencing and it is solely the memory of the two unique individuals. That's very powerful and an important part of a relationship. So when one longs for a lost partner. Especially when that partner is the only person you ever want to have those intimate moments with, having a fantasy like that is very real and very human.

Art film? then depict sex artfully where intimacy happens: in lovers hearts and minds. Not sure how you could film that.

Imagine a world where the greatest artists only ever do what is necessary. It doesn’t matter if you or anyone thinks the scene was unnecessary. You failed to understand, that’s all. And you represent a worse world that is shallower and less free and less creative.

@@cisne_sonoro The fact that he told her not to tell her agent or boyfriend about this movie because he wanted her to be fully committed to this scene is insane. Also he's not telling us that they were previously a couple so she felt comfortable being intimate with him. She's married now with kids and you can only imagine how that scene will effect their lives growing up. The movie was complete bs.

Some guy in the comments section of some bit about Gallo's reiteration of the poor Cannes critics reception said: they were there, there was no booing, that the opening credit with vincent gallo written across the screen lasted like half an hour, and then people started running out of patience and started laughing and basically lost their shit, and that was why they berated him as being narcissistic, etc. I don't see how this is not expected by Gallo. And the thing is, if you want to depict a person failing to get away from their deppressive demons to have time of day for once while receiving oral sex, you don't have to close up that much on stuff other than the faces of the two persons participating in that sex. (that's what he said in an essay he wrote for the website "another man") Another problem is what he said on Stern's radio show. He said he liked lost, vulnerable girls, not to save them as Stern thought when he'd butt in to confirm that, but to take advantage of them as to finally break them. At this point no one in their sound minds should have to lose their time dwelling on how much he meant that as a troll trying to please Stern's douchey tabloidy show standards and his own 5 year old tantrum throwing kid's sentiments or if he were actually lying when he said in the aforementioned essay that the BB wasn't ridiculing women but showing how in reality, which is far from any utopia we might have, worst men with worst qualities are magnetized by a woman "less than sober" for these lesser men to then take advantage of that woman. (taking advantage wasn't the discussion at the time anywat btw, as a movie just tells a story, it was the redundancy in the depiction and some other stuff leading others to believe the whole movie was his mental masturbation) Now it's been too long since I watched BB for me to remember if Gallo's character was abusive in that opportunistic kind of way, I just remember myself saying it was Buffalo 66 with the torturous sex scene that was meant to be torturous. But I do realize that the lostness, sadness, and struggles of this main character are so important that his inability to see and recognize what sadness and struggles the other side might have only complimentingly complements their character, decorates the main character and accentuates his selfpity, whatever. The only sort of self pity that I despise is the one a total dckhead who fails to feel an ounce of love for another person, has for themselves. That is just me. Going by what he did with the video to Frusciante's Going Inside, I consider him a really talented guy. I just think he's dishonest and hides that dishonesty behind a trollish sense of humor. It's not just that one cannot tell how serious he is. It is that one shouldn't have to, because the world does not revolve about him(something that all trolls fail to understand and makes us resent them) and also, he should stop saying stuff that's opposite in meaning in his separate interviews.
@aquagirl11182 жыл бұрын
Not sure if you watched any interviews of his early life but it explains why he’s so messed up and reflects heavily in Buffalo ‘66 a lot of those movies directed and written by him are basically self inserts of his life. Everything starts from the way he was raised at home and his various abuse by both parents. Explains like in your comment he said he liked lost and vulnerable women to control and break bc he’s repeating the cycle of abuse he also went through growing up it’s crazy yet very insightful

I think people missed how realistic and necessary the bj scene was. If you’ve ever been cheated on by a longtime lover and your tryin to find a way to not be disgusted with them and find forgiveness these situations are common during intimacy but you just your just disgusted by them further during a passionated moment and more pain comes with the confirmation it will never be the same.
