Synopsis: At the age of 8, Park Joo-Hyeong went to Italy after he was adopted. He is now an adult and has the name of Vincenzo Cassano (Song Joong-Ki). He is a lawyer, who works for the Mafia as a consigliere. Because of a war between mafia groups, he flees to South Korea. In South Korea, he gets involved with Lawyer Hong Cha-Young (Jeon Yeo-Bin). She is the type of attorney who will do anything to win a case. Vincenzo Cassano falls in love with her. He also achieves social justice by his own way.

I have exams this week so I won’t be able to make an edit for the finale right away but I thought I’d at least leave this note here: Well... Vincenzo ended and I just needed a whole 1.5 hours to collect my thoughts. My face is still wet from the tears 😭 It wasn’t a sad ending. I’m just sad it ended because I really enjoyed watching it. At first I wasn’t so into it, hence why I didn’t immediately edit it but I just found myself getting more and more sucked into the story be it with the romance or with the tenants and of course Vincenzo’s personal struggles, pain, and internal war. As for the ending, I think it was very realistic given Vincenzo is still a bad guy who catches other bad guys. In fact I think we should be more than satisfied because even at the very last moment, the writer didn’t soften him. He learned about love and family during his time in Korea but he can’t fully indulge in that lifestyle because of his past. People were already complaining that he wanted to save ChaYoung first at the end of last episode because it didn’t seem like the usual cold blooded Vincenzo. In this ending to the series, we see the usual Vincenzo but just grown. He’s reached enlightenment in his own way. I really liked the ending where we just got a closeup with his narration because it revealed that he is now at peace with himself. I think that’s much more precious than just being physically by his loved ones’ and friends’ side all the time. This is also connected to the last conversation he had with the monk. In ep.6, he wanted to learn how to get rid of all the anguish in his life. He hated that he was the bad guy; he wanted to be a good guy but now he realized that he can be himself and that’s enough. There are people who accept him for who he is and more importantly he’s accepted himself. Also, I loved that in the very end, we still got an indirect confession. They never explicitly said “I love/like you,” but we know and they know they’re in love. I actually prefer what he said about villains being tenacious in everything including love and then proceeding to passionately kiss her. It fit right in with his character that I didn’t even realize that he didn’t say those three words. The kiss was just perfect from his initiation to him kissing her after what he said about their love. This was the perfect ending for them because ChaYoung had initiated everything up until this point. Now that he’s more at peace with himself, he has more courage to profess his love. I’m sure ChaYoung feels that too. Of course he had to leave because he said he snuck in with the delegation and could only be there for one day, so I wasn’t surprised. You know a drama/movie/story is good when it leaves you wondering what happens to the characters next. Like what will they do the next time Vincenzo’s in Korea? Does she let him try that wine she made with the cheap grapes planted in his name? I’m sure he’d be touched but also confused because man’s got taste. He’d probably just pretend to like it so as not to upset ChaYoung but she’d say something like “I know it’s bad. It doesn’t actually cost much” and they’d laugh it off like when they drank makgeoli at his place. That’s one thing that’s left to our imaginations. Also now that I think about it, Vincenzo’s difficulty with entering the country was foreshadowed in the beginning when the airport security mistook him for a wanted man. I suppose that could happen again past this ending. Very circular indeed. There’s a lot to write about but I’ll just make a few short notes about the rest of the characters and their shining moments in this last episode. Wow Jang Hanseo. His character development and his redemption arc was just the most satisfying and emotional. I can’t believe Hanseok really shot his brother but at least there was some hesitation before he finally pulled the trigger. Hanseo finally found his true bother in Vincenzo. I know it’s only natural that Vincenzo went to ChaYoung first but I’m glad he eventually went to Hanseo. He was late but I think this was a good ending for Hanseo because he died in his brother’s arms. He got Vincenzo’s approval and finally felt the love he badly craved. At the beginning of the series, we all hated him but in the end, we see that he’s just a kid. He pretty much had to grow up alone so its not surprising he followed his brother’s footsteps in fear and also because he didn’t have anyone else. The ramen scene broke me to pieces because you see how pure he actually is by putting the tracking devices in all of Hanseok’s watches. He lent a big hand in dealing the final blow to Hanseok. He’s just best boy Hanseo and no one can change my mind. Next, I really loved how Vincenzo killed Myunghee and Hanseok. They truly deserved those forms of slow death/torture after everything they’ve done. I pretty much died when he turned on the music for Myunghee to dance to amidst the flames. I felt like I was transported back to the time I watched episode one where he set the vineyard on fire. It felt oh so great. Hanseok’s death was also great because of the anticipation of the puncture. Love how Vincenzo was the one who took his watch. Beat him at his own game. As for the tenants, I love how Seokdo was a nurse. That was definitely one of the biggest reversals. I can’t stop thinking about it because again we hated his character so much in the beginning. But now we see him saving Mr. Pawnshop’s life. Oh and the way he was helping out at their shop because of their newborn. It was so precious. They’re truly family. I also loved that Mr. Cho was back working at that agency. I love his dynamic with Ahn goon. The way they were told to work and not just look for their corn salad was so funny. Like come on even ChaYoung is stronger than that. Oh and the return of Minseong. Unexpected but so goddamn funny especially the way he continued being whipped for Vincenzo or as he knows Taeho. 😭 He got hit in the head with a soccer ball and is still admiring Taeho’s beauty. No one tell him that ChaYoung and Vincenzo are together now 🤫 because she’s the one who gave him the photos. 😂 A few more notes on Vincenzo and ChaYoung to sign off. 😢 I am oh so glad that ChaYoung didn’t let Vincenzo live in regret and despair after she took the bullet for him. We all knew that he would blame himself but that was the first thing she told him not to do because she’s fine. I also loved her line about them fighting a war together and that she just happened to get hurt because it totally takes it out of that kdrama mold where one lead takes a bullet for the other to protect the other out of love. This is more for comradeship and it shows that they’re equals. One is not stronger than the other and they meet in the middle. This is honestly probably why Vincenzo loves ChaYoung. I also loved that even though she’s supposed to be resting she went to see him one final time. This time he hugs her tightly, not wanting to let go which pretty much foreshadowed the ending. We see him initiate for the first time. And final note. I love the flashback to their outdoor coffee date in the last episode. I love that Vincenzo compared their situation with him potentially not being able to return to the story of 견우 and 직녀. I was wondering why I already knew this story. Like where have I heard this from and I remembered that it’s a Chinese love story actually. Basically two lovers are separated but for one day in a year they can meet via a bridge that connects their distant worlds. I mean there he goes implying that they are lovers and ChaYoung not really saying anything. But we know they knew. He had such roundabout ways of saying “we’re a couple/we’re together.” Then of course this comes true and he fulfills the promise to return to her. Every line means something. They didn’t let anything go to waste. That’s what I loved about this drama. I’m sad to let it go but I will be strong. If anything ChaYoung has shown us what it’s like to be strong and independent. Thanks to everyone involved in producing the masterpiece that is Vincenzo. They’ll never see this message but I hope they can feel my gratitude and just awe in their craft many oceans away. 🤧 Good bye Vincenzo! You’ve been great. Thank you for filling my weekends with laughter and joy. ❤️

Thank you for sharing this lovely notes. I love this show so much and can't get over it too. I felt the pain of the death of Cha Young's father, the death of Vincenzo's mother and the death of Hansoe, and the love between Vincenzo and Cha Young. Though they are in love but in reality they can't be together. It is sad but they need to let go and move on...

😭 Tbh this was very predictable but it still hurt. I know ChaYoung is going to be okay. I just hope they don’t totally ignore it. Whether they date or not isn’t important anymore. I just want ChaYoung to get some closure after all that she’s been through. Otherwise Vincenzo would be such a jerk.

mhmm. actually the first time, I watched the ending, I thought it was a happy one. For me, it was a new beginning, a new chapter in their lives which is not necessarily a bad thing. I thought what he said about villains not giving up, because they even love tenaciously meant that he would never give up on Chayoung and that now they can officially start their relationship. Maybe it's just me because most people on Twitter say that this is a goodbye and that they could never be together. I mean this is his first confession so I don't think he'd just leave like that. They'll find some way to be together and that's left to our imagination. Maybe it's like the CLOY ending where Chayoung eventually goes to Malta or Vincenzo finds some way to make the most out of his short visits to Korea. Who knows? And I guess for that, this was a good ending because we're left wondering where the characters are and what their future holds. It's not the end. It's a mere beginning. :)

Song joongki answered in his post-finale interview that he’s grateful for all the interest and requests that they’ve been receiving for a second season but they never considered one and that it’s unlikely they’ll make it. Also, I’d say that Vincenzo had a happy ending. It was more open to imagination but it did tie up all loose ends so it wouldn’t really make sense to extend the story further no matter how much we enjoyed watching it/ no matter how much the actors and staff enjoyed producing it.
