when Resonace happens in organic compounds it is called Mesomerism....if it takes place in simple alkyl groups it is only resonance!

@@MDZubair-i5w yeah you r rgt but almost both are same so students have some confusion in between both that's the brief difference between both that I told above.... for more info: resonance effect describes how a molecule's lone pair of electrons and bond pair of electrons determine its chemical structure, whereas the mesomeric effect describes how a molecule's chemical structure is stabilized by using a functional group.

Sir you showed an example for - m effect where the oxygen atom in that aldehyde also had lone pair . Why didn't showed resonance like that in the first case and showed + m effect ?
