I wish VS would get more access to our beloved films. They do a better job than anyone else.

Very interesting. I've seen documentaries on the preservation and conservation before, but picked up a few new things here. Now I'd love to see a documentary on the film acquisition process.

Excellent, fascinating video👌Brings home the sheer physicality of the medium. The lugging of cans; the unravelling of the film onto the spindles; the lifting, shunting and unspooling. And seeing the corrosive material, literally eating through the film cans - far less the film stock! - is wild. The celluloid literally breathing out moisture, and soaking in its own fluids. The sweat, tears and joy of restoring film is really quite something. Oscar's passion here is infectious! I love that he loves film cans; that he loves films so we can!

This was great. I will forever praise Vinegar Syndrome, if only because you saving and releasing "Luther The Geek". The company does a great job with your releases. On a side note, all your representatives I have met at conventions selling your films are always very nice.

Poor Dave never had a chance. I have a 35mm film print of an Indianapolis action film Forgive Me Father (Ivan Rogers, 2001), but don’t have the capacity to store it long term. Trying to donate it to an archive, but the university I’m talking to right now is slow rolling everything. Hoping I don’t ruin it from my poor ability to take care of it. I’ve been collecting as much Ivan Rogers material as I can because he was an interesting black film maker in my city, but haven’t tracked down any negatives or other prints.

Vinegar Syndrome really knows what their doing when comes to film restoration. Major film studios hire them to restore films because they have earned such a great name in the film industry for the great work they do. I purchased the Toxic Avenger 4k boxset a while back and they did the entire collection, anyone who buys their films can see the phenomenal work and love they put into the preservation of cinema.

@mredderkopp1669 Жыл бұрын
I think the best part of working for Vinegar Syndrome would be that before restoring them, you get to watch the movies on the original film before hand. There's something about watching old movies in the original 35mm that makes my heart beat quicker...all the scratches and eye floaters jumping around, and when there's no dialogue or noises from the movie, you can hear the film crackling over the sound system like somebody's got a fire going in the fire place. For a special feature in a future disk, you guys should just transfer the film as you found it...tail leader included.
