I want to imagine that Mario didn't quite understand what they were talking about, but heard spaghetti. After Luigi warned Mario about spaghettification, it clicked and he jokingly said that he was going into the black hole. The rest was just Mario, Luigi, and Vinny joking around about what would happen if Mario DID go into the black hole.

The things Mario sees is himself over and over again, these are not illusions, these are the lights that got reflected on him, but due to the massive Space curvature that makes light being able to orbit the black hole, he can see himself from his backside, and always from his backside
