my theory on bomb speedup, is that the more projectiles on screen the slower the game would run (1990s hardware, remember) so they programmed the game to speed-up to account for this. But on powerful modern hardware all you get is the game speeding up due to the lack of slowdown in the first place.

Matthew Lindfield you’re 100% correct. This old DOS game was running on DOSBox and the CPU speed had to be adjusted a bit. I watched the stream live and Vinny did mess with the Clockspeed settings a bit (which was edited out in this video)

Playing this game is hell, but watching it, just enjoying the visuals and noise is a surreal experience. In a way, I respect this game for what it tried, and I love it visually (even if most of it is unintentional). But, yeah, this game is fucking awful otherwise.

To be fair, for 1994 this game was actually passable - it has some good animation (especially the one which makes you actually travel to the next area instead of just changing the background immediately which Vinny himself pointed out on stream), crusty but unique graphics and soundtrack, even puzzles aren't that bad. However, writing is far from good and acting is way too goofy most of the time. Oh and that broken cutscene in the hotel also worth metioning
