Man im starting to realize how much of a 2000's shonen anime character Soma was, hes the (spoilers) reincarnation of Dracula who can basically use all his powers related to his dominance over monsters and he is able to topple over the Belmont who canonically killed Dracula for good, and he ends up not becoming the next Dracula because he want to be with his waifu. Its not a bad thing per say (I think he's one of the better non-Belmont protags next to Alucard) it just feels like something out of that era.

Mina is implied to be the reincarnation of Dracula's wife as well, so it's overall a story about Dracula's redemption. Dracula rejects his old role as the lord of darkness, and gets a chance to save his love, the loss of which originally drove him to evil so long ago. I like it as a way to end Dracula's story.

Although Vinny's break wasn't exactly, uh, planned, you can feel the positive effects through his streams for the past few years. Having an actual sleep schedule and not staying up YAM hours is pretty nice. But yeah, you get fucked over if KZbin/streaming is your livelihood. I know Mike REALLY had to change up how he streams and does content over the few years.

It's funny you mention everything you did about the Shorts ecosystem - when I was in radio broadcasting, there was a huge push on social media. Facebook was one of the big ones, and we were getting ABSURD metrics from it all that just made it clearly the correct choice. Then we found out Facebook had been artificially inflating our numbers to a huge degree, and so many websites got shuttered as a result. I wonder if the Shorts metrics are doing the same thing. I honestly wouldn't put it past youtube to try and pull the same trick.

The Dawn of Sorrow randomizer is also really sick, there's options to fully randomize all the stats of weapons, including how many i-frames they have, so they can randomly gain more multi hits.

The whole thing with KZbin pushing Shorts and whether it's sustainable... It's not. There are certain things that become so ingrained and develop their own sorts of cultures that pivoting to a new direction kills that thing. Shorts aren't sustainable because you burn through your available resources much faster, and those resources are maturing at a much slower rate nowadays. The skill ceiling for making quality videos is much higher, and short form content requires not only that higher quality, but a fatal pace. You can't shit out nine videos a day the same way a teenager does when they record themselves dancing to a song or being murdered by Grimace at a sleazy dim McDonald's drive through. Even regular long form content has become unsustainable because the algorithm demanded weekly videos with enough space to place six ads. A lot of people are quitting because the standards are too high and the platforms want too much. Tom Scott, Joel Haver, Lindsay Ellis, they've all stepped away because they can't complete the insane inhuman goals designed by machines building systems off of metrics.

He literally just announced that he personally can sustain it, but he decided to challenge himself, this year, to make a feature film every month instead of a short film every week. But also he knows that it'll make him significantly less money because the algorithm will hate him for this. Which is true and why he is actuslly sustained with his patreon not youtube.

I think the big thing with Vinny getting through MGS4 is that he was already very invested in the series at that point. He grew up with 1, with both that game and 3 being some of his top games of all time. Plus, 4 does have great gameplay and a decent amount of fun set pieces in between all that exposition too.

@@crakhaed I also realized I was a lot more reactionary than active, meaning there would be lots of no talk unless someone in chat was talking to me or reacting to something in game, which in return hurt more when you barely have anyone talking in it. Maybe I'll try again one day but on KZbin because I think Twitch isn't a good place to start if you're not an already known person or be unique to be found.

To be fair, New Vegas is a game that gets better the more you play it. There's a lot of small things that, the more you play with different builds and faction allegiances, the more you find to love. So it's a big time investment, and you have to like it at least a little on the surface.

This is both my first Castlevania and cleared randomizer, so it's pretty special to me. Aria of Sorrow is easy for casual players to beat in one longer sitting, making it ideal for randomizing. My only complaint with this game is that the Black Panther's dash is so good that all other blue souls become undesirable outside of specific setups. Since it counts as a jump upgrade for randomizer purposes, you can find it way earlier than you normally would and lock it in forever.

"Search-Action" honestly sounds lazier for a genre name than "Metroidvainia". I don't know if its any better, but I think "Puzzle-box Dungeon" honestly sounds like a better name and is explanatory of what the game loop is.
