Man there was really something special about this era of games. This game reeks of the early 00's. A game like this would be sold on phones now for $5 and have a $1000 worth of micro transactions. Its really a portrait of where the gaming industry and our culture as a whole was at the time. 2005 was the high point of anime's popularity in the US. Which is probably what helped to get this game localized in the west to begin with. I don't know how I'm getting nostalgic for a game I never played from a series I never really got into. I guess it just reminds me of that era.

Never heard the hate for this ost. It is different to match the new style but Yamane=perfection. Apparently Castlevania 64 composer Masahiko Kimura also contributed some tracks and you can definitely tell. Fantastic all around!

It is just good, but not great. It is probably the weakest of all Metroidvania games. You can't expect the same composer to knock it out the park every single time.

I feel the same way about the game itself, it's not the best Igavania, and the super anime style turns me off a bit (why I never sunk as many hours into POR either)

Eh, I feel like it would be hard to narrow down a moveset for Soma, unless you made him like Palutena and have be highly customizable. Alucard would be a bit easier with his preference towards swords and vampiric powers (triple fireball comes to mind). I think the Belmonts would be great for Smash with their subweapons being perfect special moves and whipping in multiple directions for standard attacks.

id really want the next castlevania game (if there is one) to be based on the battle of 1999. a battle hinted at in flavor texts throughout aria and dawn of sorrow. basically it told of draculas final defeat at the hands of julius belmont in 1999. wasnt just a battle, according to some enemy texts it was a full-on war. with fallen soldiers serving as enemies in aria of sorrow. julius is an old man by the sorrow games, yet is still really powerful... would love to see the man at his prime in the battle of 1999. perhaps a young julius belmont and his master (an elderly jonathan morris) storm the castle after the un forces dispatched were all but wiped out by draculas forces..... julius belmont would be aided by alucard, who was ALSO sent to destroy draculas castle. the game would involve the pair to work together with their own abilities (like how por had jonathan and charolette team up) to ultimately destroy dracula and seal his castle away in a dark eclipse... the ending would cut to several infants (graham jones, dimitri blinov, and dario bossi) born at the exact moment of draculas defeat (and soma, where draculas soul resides in), their eyes glow red and a "to be continued....?" message appears, foreshadowing the events of the sorrow games.

I liked that you can get an actual gun. It is bad, but you can get a better version gun with silver bullets that does a decent amount of damage, i think you have to upgrade the first gun.

In Aria, you could get an antimatter cannon if you speedrun the boss rush. It's one of (possibly the, but I haven't played it in a while so I'm not sure) most powerful weapons in the game.

Oh my god yes. I LOVED the DS Castlevania games, especially this one. Wonder if people are gonna try and get Vinny to do the Succubus glitch. Do that right and you can break the game.

I'm not familiar with that glitch but it is possible to sequence break with certain daggers. If you find one of those gates that can only be opened by stepping on a button on the other side, you can use the special move of one of those particular daggers to phase through the gate and step on the switch. Do it before getting the double jump and you risk getting stuck in certain places, though...

I wish Netflix hadn't canned Marco Polo, that was such a great show. I feel like Netflix is spreading their cash too thin, they are pumping out way too many shows and only picking up the ones that gain an insane following, if a show has decent success, but not like Orange is the New Black or House of Cards, they drop it. I feel like when Arrested Development season 5 drops, and it isn't an immediate ultra success, Netflix is just going to can it, even if it is the same quality as the first 3 seasons.

I love the DS Castlevania games but Castlevania Order of Ecclesia is probably my favorite game in the whole franchise. The mechanics where you absorb different powers and weapons is so fun. But why make Alucard turn into a Japanese man, what magic did he use?

By the way, there's a ROM hack of this game somewhere on the Internet that changes the Magic Seal mechanic that, IIRC, makes it so you only have to draw the first line before the seal is automatically completed. Or maybe it just makes them auto-complete every time. Either way, it all but removes the most irritating mechanic in the game.
