It was deliberate. I believe it was explained during the original stream that the creator of said corruption found bytes the corruption of which would make components of it work (Sqwaks is spawned as part of it I think) then put them all together in one. As Narry, the creator of the corruption software put it, it was "a corruption in the loosest sense". Only barely different from a hack.
