Dreams would have been so much more successful if they dropped it on PC

Absolutely. That's what I'd been saying since day one. There'd be way less of a limit on what you could build in any one creation, it'd be much easier to use with PC controls and Mouse accuracy, it'd be exposed to a much larger audience... I heralded this game as one of the most important in a long, long time, because I saw the vast potential it had. I'm still holding out for a PC release one of these days, but... Molecule Media are real stubborn, I'll give them that.

@@yosupitsvic7612 Probably not MM but rather Sony. Sony marketed the hell out of LBP in the PS3's hayday but never did the same for Dreams - the Sony that existed during the PS3 era that supported experimental games is no more, and the modern Sony that markets big blockbuster titles and forcefully closed down their experimental studios almost certainly doesn't care about Dreams. Even to this day, Sony is still barely dipping their toes into PC ports and playing it safe by only releasing their biggest hits. Even if MM wasn't sunsetting, we'd probably see Dreams on an emulator with a private server long before an official release.

At this point, you might as well use any lightweight game engine like Unity or Godot.

The tech behind it is probably so damn optimized for the PS4 that it might be quite difficult to port, and porting it to PC means an incredibly wide range of hardware support, and since at that point the cat's out of the bag you might as well port it to the PS5 too, which in turn means "do something to justify this" which Sony probably doesn't care about. Money better spent on a successor, even if only spiritual, or a new experiment entirely.

​​@@No1TypeC I'd say that most of the game isn't that hard to port, given that the PS4 is essentially a x86 computer Graphics and sound however, those would be a bitch to port, since everything is proprietary And sadly, those are the most important parts of this game

man, i wish Dreams creation tools had been designed better. they were really amazingly deep...but it was so much more complicated than it needed to be, and there was _so_ little documentation on what things meant. yes, some people who know what they're doing made some really cool stuff in it, but it should've been more casual friendly. honestly, since moving on from Dreams, ive started learning unity and its actually _easier._

as a game developer i couldn't get into it mainly because of how i had to use the controller for everything instead of a mouse and keyboard. they have some really cool tools and i was willing to accept the learning curve, but learning it takes much longer due to how unwieldy it is in comparison to kbm.

Apparently Sony will fund things they just find cool, but it looks like that enthusiasm ran out. (I read this somewhere in an interview with the game developer) And clearly they should've made it multiple platform.

I know it's been said a lot, but backrooms/liminal space stuff is fascinating because of the lack of context. Adding lore or story completely undermines the original appeal. It's like not showing the monster in a horror movie, your brain can fill in the gaps. Regardless, the eerie emptiness of liminal imagery is compelling enough on its own, I think.

I know Vinny said this section was the worst stream ever but I think it actually ended up being one of the best especially with Humpty game, it made me feel something indescribable and I'm very happy I got to experience this moment with Vin and Chat together, that means a lot. ❤

i dont see it mentioned any where here and i dont recall hearing it in the video, but *for the foreseeable future, at this time* Dreams will still be active after official support ends. "That means it won't receive any new updates, but players can still install and play Dreams - *including creating and sharing games* - after that date." so we can still "Dream" and view dreams to our hearts content until they announce when the game as a whole is no longer supported. my guess is a few more years from now for when they will close down the servers, but thats just a total shot in the dark.

I know there's this whole debate about what the appeal of liminal spaces are versus the "LVL. 6900 oF tHe BAcKR0Oms gone WRONG" type mythos that most have done with the concept, but Kane Pixels' vids are genuinely amazing.

Vampire Survivors is actually not the original. I played a game on Android called Magic Survival long before Vampire Survivors existed. In fact, I read that the game was inspired by Magic Survival. It's kind of a shame to see a game get so much more attention and fame than the actual original. Not saying it's a bad game, just that most of the credit is misdirected.

​@@anton2497 I've seen some games that got a lot of attention and yet didn't turn out like Vampire Survivors, we can never know if it would turn out great or not Come to think about it, Flappy Bird is a great example of the total opposite: it got popular, spawned a ton of clones, and then the creator killed the entire "genre" after it blew up, not even the clones survived
