See, the problem with the walking sim/horror thing, "Memories", is that walking sims aren't actually about walking. They're about exploration. If you look at an adventure game or a metroidvania, exploration can be a ton of fun - you can't just have good environment, you need to also put interesting things for players to find and do in them. The game would be a lot more bearable if player could do something aside from walking around.

Pretty sure it was earnest. And I think that's a good thing. Even if it was a little cringey, you gotta start somewhere and the fact that he chose to be earnest is a good quality in aspiring artists, especially coming from what I presume to be a teen, who are typically rather cagey and hidden under like 6 layers of irony during that time of your life where shit is scary to face head on.

This game deserved better then how it was handled by Sony/Playstation. MediaMolecule especially deserved better. Specifically what happened was, MM was working on Dreams for about a decade almost at this point. Sony thought that Dreams should release on the PS4, when that console was pretty much already pretty much dead. Even though they could've made it release on the PS5 so that console would have a decent launch title for people to play and have fun with while they wait almost a year for something new to actually come to the console other then Dreams. On top of that, while MM was doing everything they could to push this game and get it out there, via interviews, marketing actual creations within Dreams as actual commercials for the game, to even creating games within dreams themselves just to show what you could do with it. But Sony was mostly like, "Yeah... It exists, we might port it to PS5 later." Then they proceeded to not market the game at all unless MM really pushed to. Even then, Sony's publicity team did a poor job at even telling people what the game was about. MM basically had to do all the marketing themselves for a game that was for a long time, stuck on a rotting old console with a new one already out at this point. Then after almost a year it got ported to ps5 and now people are finally actually buying it. Too bad it still wasn't enough. The amount of crap Sony didn't give about this game and MM is astounding.

I know, but i've watched Vinny for years now and usually he really doesn't like hearing it on stream. He likes that its used in a game or video, but he will usually still mute it and if thats not possible he just stops playing. This has happened plenty of times over the years. Like I said he's getting more accepting of it in the last year or so, but still.

The voice actor (TX) in that game "Memories" sounds like he has a speech impediment. I do too. I empathise with him. Its difficult since what you say sounds normal to you but sounds off in recordings and to others. I don't think its right to make fun of something he probably can't control. Unlike what chat did. On the other hand, a 2nd take on some of these lines should've been done atleast. Like at 23:42 Hope TX is doing alright, based on his Dreams bio page, hes not in a good mood.

Honestly, Vinny handled it fine. The choice of dialogue and tropes was incredibly funny as it was trying to emulate something already considered cringe and horrible. The disability shaming was expected, if he's been on the internet for as long as he has already, he's adapted to taking ablist criticism, there's no escaping it and it's out of Vinny's control. One contentious thing I want to get off my chest is the assumption that because they have a speech impediment he must have other problems. Granted, they made a Banban clone, but people have different tastes. The speech impediment did improve the game's comedy honestly and the dev willingly left in their first takes. It gave off a "first competent game" vibe with all the passionate care and lack of planning, almost like it was completed in 2 sessions.

Some of these vinesauce compilation really seem like someone who has no idea who or what vinesauce even is made them, just using the most prominent symbols and memes/tropes and combining it with other stuff, just because vinesauce stuff is popular and has a lot of views on Dreams, trying to take advantage of a watered down concept/brand of "vinesauce". Especially this deep into its dying lifecycle, this can bee a cool case study on how ecosystems cling onto whytever dies the slowest, to desperately keep all the relevance that they can. I wouldn't be surprised if some creators didn't even know that these vinny-screams are even related to vinesauce.

@@MrWolfSnack Honestly I have been rather annoyed with the thumbnail and titles of Vinesauce videos lately lol. They didn't use to be this clickbaity. Like, even just a few years ago the titles were usually JUST the actual content of the stream/video, and while occasionally there'd be images put in the thumbnail other than the game, usually the image would JUST be a screenshot from the game itself, or whatever else it was Vinny was doing, now it's all meme filled thumbnails with meme titles. I do still like Vinesauce for sure, but I definitely think they need a new editor or something that can go back to the more mature way Vinesauce used to be handled, instead of it feeling like it's trying too hard to appeal to Zoomers.

I feel like the bootlegging of stuff has gotten a lot worse lately. I dunno what it is but I've noticed a big uptick in people just using someone else's identity to get attention to whatever they're doing. Weird that it's even got as far as Dreams... though having said that I suppose most of Dreams ends up being bootleg versions of stuff. So maybe it's actually on brand to have fake stuff around? Still, it's kind of a shame we spend so much time among trash and don't get enough of the good stuff. Because it is on there! People make some stuff that has no right being as competent as it is. Maybe a "Good Dreams" is in order.

Media Molecule isn't shutting down the Dreams servers anytime soon. They've said that people can still do all the standard stuff but the social events are ending. It's like if Splatoon kept its servers up but stopped doing Splatfests.
