Some cultural explanations: - The long neck woman from the first commercial is a Rokurokubi, a Yokai that takes the appearence of a normal human by day but can stretch their necks inhumanly by night, they were said to be sinister beings that scare mortals. - The reason why they constantly switched between English and Tagalog in the teeth commercial is that filipinos speak in a mix between English, Spanish and Tagalog and constantly switch at the fly. -The girl with her organs hanging out in the food commercial is a ghost whose name varies depending on the country but is the spirit of an individual, mostly a woman who had a very sinful life. There's probably more but I havent seen the video in full

I think Vinny might record his headset mic audio to a separate additional track so that in case of DMCA Johnny can just replace the stream audio and keep Vinny’s mic audio intact with minimal grunt work required. 1:05:43 I've been waiting YEARS for the Seth Green Dragon Quest 9 ads to show up during a commercial stream, and I'm so happy it's finally happened. The amount of money Squenix pumped into advertising DQ9 is basically why you see more zoomer DQ fans in the west than boomer ones. Sauce: I'm one of them. It also helps that DQ9 is just genuinely one of if not the best RPG on the DS, but still those ads were on Nick and Cartoon Network CONSTANTLY.
@blissband3601 Жыл бұрын
Wasnt nintendo marketing dq9
@warbossgegguz679 Жыл бұрын
@@blissband3601 Had to double check and it looks like it, yeah. oops. Either way it's clear they wanted it to sell. and the fact it was nintendo makes even more sense, since Iwata always pushed for Nintendo to try to sell DQ in the west (he was a big fan, personally tight with Hori, and felt it was the ideal "mass appeal" RPG, which it was before Pokemon). So the shilling makes even more sense I suppose. But hey, it worked. DQ 9 was the highest selling game in the series in western territories prior to 11. They were torn between including DQ 8 and DQ 9 protag gear in Smash and DQ11 to pander to western fans for that reason, but went with 8 because the character wasn't customizable and therefore had a distinct look. Still shouted it out in the trailer though. Personally, DQ3 is probably my favorite (mainly hust because of the history) followed EXTREMELY NARROWLY by DQ11, but 8 and 9 are top tier too. Only real mid games in the series are 6 and 2 (the latter of which is actively miserable to play, to the point that in recent years Hori has LITERALLY apologized for it and tried to make rereleases more palatable, basically the DQ equivalent of the Water Temple).

The amount of times in chat I saw "what"s and "what the fuck"s during this stream must have been in the 1000s

29:11 I wonder how many variants of this CM exists in multiple languages, because I've seen a variant of it in Brazilian Portuguese on TV too. Even the actors are the same from the (Latin?) Spanish variant.

Yeah I feels like it I saw that commercial Latino Spanish like not that commercial but a different variant my most possible theories were they air it from Chile

1:13:43 - 1:15:25 "I can't believe this piece of horror media would dare to make me uncomfortable and contain elements of social commentary that I don't enjoy! CANCEL IT!" If anything the only hard "no" for me is that it's an FMV game.

The first commercial has a fucking Youkai. Can't get better than that.

I'm from Tennessee, probably the most RC loving place in the U.S. to the point we have a holiday celebrating it and Moon Pies. We NEVER have commercials for it and after seeing these I'm so freaking thankful for that. Though I will say, it is really freaking good. Like I'd take an RC over Coke or Pepsi any day if I'm gonna drink one.

I’m gonna take your word for it that it’s good, I mean maybe I can find some in California but eh I personally prefer Pepsi over Cola also I swear I’ve seen RC Cola in an episode of Breaking Bad, guess getting the right to advertise cola or Pepsi was too high for AMC at the time.

As someone from the Midwest, RC was an option almost as often as Coke or Pepsi in almost every context except fast food. Local restaurants carried all three as canned choices. As a tangent, I once mixed Coke and Pepsi in equal parts to see what the outcome would be. It tasted almost EXACTLY like RC. So do all of the store brand colas. So I think a lot of people saying it's the worst choice probably don't know wtf they're talking about.
@warbossgegguz679 Жыл бұрын
On northern Ohio RC is in stores, but nowhere near as popular as Pepsi or Coke.
@warbossgegguz679 Жыл бұрын
@@OtakuUnitedStudio the difference between coke and Pepsi based on both taste tests and chemical examinations is that Pepsi is overall sweeter. This is also why their advertising targets young people specifically, since biologically younger people are more sensitive to sweetness than older people and generally prefer it. With that out of the way... I know nothing about RC other than it's short for Royal Crown, is owned by 7up/A&W, and the diet version is what Diet Rite is. Had both before and they're fine, but I still prefer Pepsi. LOVE 7up and A&W though.

I don't know if I'm the only one, but the moment I heard Ronald say "that's a wonderful idea", I was reminded that Flowey's voice is sampled from that Edit: Just a few seconds after I left this comment, Vinny said the exact same thing, so I guess I'm not the only one

I loved those OnStar Batman ads as a kid. I remember going to the Chicago Auto Show and OnStar having a Batman themed booth with the batmobile there.

Vinny's reaction was exquisite to my sentiment. 24:53 How absolutely DISGUSTING and DESPICABLE the drugs and medication advertisements were in Mexico, to put full fungus nails, skin ailments and warts on FEET specifically. It was only through the lense of Vinny's -sheltered- different upraising that I noticed it

C'mon Vinny, you gotta admit "Rubber" Duck is pretty effective. I'm pretty sure I'll remember that rubbers protect me after seeing that.
