How did Vinesh Phogat gain 2 kg in one day? With sunken eyes and arid veins, a dehydrated Phogat could barely walk on the day of her first weigh-in but managed to take on her opponents to secure her place in the finals, becoming the first Indian female wrestler to do so. The wrestler had a celebratory glass of juice in the morning right after she had first made weight - 300 grams (on Tuesday). This is a usual process for wrestlers as once after qualifying during the weigh-in, they rehydrate to regain their physical advantage. This means that Phogat had started gaining weight on Tuesday. Before her Tuesday bout, Phogat had another couple of litres of fluid to rehydrate herself. This added another 2-kg of body weight. She also had some snacks throughout the day to maintain energy, which added another 700 grams to her weight, the Sportstar report added. Following Tuesday’s competition, Phogat’s weight had jumped to 52.7 kg.

Rules are meant to impart justice and to prevent injustice and whichever Rule is against the priniciple of natural justice and public policy then a court of law is fully competent to declare it null and void..in the instant case one thing is crystal clear that when vinesh had played the semi final she had won it within the weight as prescribed under the Rules and previously too she had won the bouts within limited weight of 50 kg.Now the question arises if her weight is increased merely 100 grams over and above 50 kg on the next day , should she be denied for that medal i.e silver medal for which she had ensured for the final game and qualified for the final within the limited weight.The justifiable answer of this question considering all the canons of principle natural justice is BIG NO. Yes,at the most she could have been disqualfied for the next match but to deny her the silver medal and to allow that player who she defeated in the semi final to play the final is patiently grave injusice and contrary to the true spirit of Rules. Moreover vinesh has nowhere committed any fraud if due to natural process her weight has increased merely 100 gm overnight i.e on the next day . MEDICAL SCIENCE respectable doctor may shed more lighf on it,says,during the menstural period or during the extreme stage of stress the female harmones usually fluctuate and in that eventuality at times the weight of a female can increase or decrease upto some extent. Secondly had the final match been held on the same day,then could she be denied to participate in the final or had it been the case of muscle pull which could make her impossible to play the final then could she be denied the silver medal? Now the matter is before the court of Arbitration of sports and indian Govt.has deputed the highly reputed battery of lawyers to represent vinesh before the court of law. As of now 140 crore indians are waiting the postive result with cross fingers .lets hope truth and justice will prevail. Satya mev jayate.Anyway,if her grievance is not redressed then Indian govt before the arrival of this greatest ever player should announce to confer her the Bharat Rattna with Rs 6 crore as a token of best tribute to follow the slogan Beti Bachao ,Beti khilao.so as to motivate our girls to participate in sports with great zeal and enthusiasm.This matter is related with the pride of 140 crore indians and we need to rise above the petty politics.
