I think you are thinking too simple, electric cars now have a lot of technology applied to the car, you have to compare the technologies that are integrated on that car, Vinfast's car I see that there are a lot of very integrated technologies. suitable for everyone, you can't compare like a petrol car, you say it like all electric cars are the same :))) electric cars they are racing in technology, not cheap like gas cars

Echo that. The ID.4 AWD top pf the line is $50K, and not sure if its ADAS package is on par with Vinfast. Besides, Vinfast's overall design and interior matetial look high scale and futuristic IMO Ioniq5 or Kia EV6 are looking good but again the whole technology package that Vinfast put on seems above the rest of the field except for the luxury Tesla Y with a terrible build and quality 😊

Experts suggest that EV batteries often last from 10-20 years or theoretically last forever. However, EV battery degradation to below 70% is bound to happen at some point depending on the driving habits, charging habits, speeds, the temperature, road conditions, and more. As a result, several federal regulations require manufacturers to warranty EV batteries for 8 years or 100,000 miles to ensure the batteries hold at least 70% capacity. In reality, a Finish man's 2013 Tesla Model S after 8 years started showing error codes while the mileage display was less than 100,000 miles in December 2021, and the only fix was a $22,600 full battery replacement, which was half of the price the EV retails for, and his final choice was sadly to blow it up instead of replacing the battery! Here is the point, when you buy a Tesla, the price includes the battery, which mean you pay $22,600/8 years = $2,825/year or $235/month, plus an additional energy charge of $0.045/mile (per energysage) or $45/1,000 miles/month (the average American drives about 1,000 miles/month, according to the US Department of Transportation). Altogether, you pay $235/month + $45/month = 280$/month for the battery and energy charge to own a Tesla for about 8 years or with 100,000 miles. However, VinFast battery leasing program offers an unlimited-mile fixed lease option, you pay only $110/month for the 5-seater SUV VF8, and $160/month for the 7-seater SUV VF9. Remember these are fixed monthly charges, which means no monthly price changes for the life of the lease with unlimited miles. Also with the battery leasing program, VinFast backs its batteries with a lifetime warranty and says it will replace the unit for free once the battery capacity drops below 70 percent. This means a VinFast driver will NEVER ever worry about the $22,600 bill to replace the battery! In addition, VinFast offers a limited warranty coverage of 10 years or 120,000 miles, whichever comes first; and this is the longest warranty coverage ever done by an EV maker. VinFast is such a rare combination of BMW and Pininfarina! VinFast is a stylish, modern and premium EV at a reasonable price! The choice is now yours!

Vingroup Joint Stock Company is the largest conglomerate of Vietnam, focusing on technology, industry, real estate development, retail, and services ranging from healthcare, education to hospitality. They have been manufacturing cars, especially gas-fueled ones for about 4 years, and over 30,000 cars have been sold and used in Vietnam since 2018. In addition, VinFast is the fifth best-selling car brand in Vietnam. Over 6,500 units of VinFast Lux A2.0 executive sedan based on the F10 BMW 5 Series, had been sold and over 6,000 units of VinFast Lux SA2.0 premium crossover based on the F15 BMW X5, had been delivered. Fadil had been Vietnam's best-selling A-segment car of the year, with the most powerful engine of its segment and a full range of comfort and safety features, but the most well-known one was the VinFast President, which was a BMW X5 powered by a GM V8. This gave the President its own personality! Since October 2021 after VinFast initiated their EV production, over 100 electric cars VFe35 has been delivered in Vietnam. Moreover, VinFast EVs had been tested and they all met the NHTSA, Euro NCAP and ASEAN NCAP 5 star-ratings, which explained why VinFast has confidently joined all the well-known international auto shows from Paris, Los Angeles, Las Vegas to New York. As a result, saying VinFast had "no manufacturing expertise or experience, much less engineering a moving vehicle" is completely ignorant and baseless. From beginning with a goal of competitively selling cars especially EVs in Vietnam and globally, the company has relied on Siemens' expertise to utilize the latest technology. In fact, VinFast has teamed up with car manufactures from America, Europe and Siemens to build its automotive factory in 21 months, taking full advantage of the modern automotive technology to speed up their production while maintaining quality and reputation. Remember when starting to make its first EVs, Tesla did not have any experience in making cars, including gasoline ones, which explained why the very first Tesla cars had so many problems like Tesla doors jammed, unable to stop the Tesla cars even after hitting breaks, Tesla cars lost control after engines started. Just google them, you will see tons of them. By contrast, VinFast did have experience in manufacturing gasoline cars before making their EVs. In reality, VinFast has made not only electric cars like VF5, VF6, VF7, VF8, VF9; but also public electric buses (VinBus or eBus or smart Bus) with a battery capacity of 281 kWh, and the smart buses can travel between 220 - 260 km (130 - 160 miles) on a single charge, carrying 50-60 passengers at a time. Last December, VinFast launched a fleet of 100 - 200 smart electric buses in Phu Quoc, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, trying to achieve its goal of making greener cities in the country. I don't recall Tesla really making any public electric transportation! Everyone knows Hyperloop is just a pipe of dream. This explained why it's easy for VinFast with all the experiences to transform itself into a fully EV manufacturer. Transparent and open, VinFast information has been posted everywhere on the internet worldwide.

Dont know what u r trying to say here. Perhaps, u r trying to project Vingroup as a conglomorate with deep knowledge and experty in many areas even in technology? Yes, they r huge in real estate. Other than that, name 1 tech product that Vingroup is known for and/or with technology developed in-house?VinFast combustion car has been a joke. Vinfast just bought a whole BMW few generation past and re-badged it. It is now discontinued after just 5yrs on the market. Now it comes out EV. Can u share or name a technolgy which is owned/developed by Vinfast? Or Vinfast uses the same playbook of re-badging? Then it comes up with a batter leasing plan which is ridiculus. It's like buying a combustion car without an engine. Why cant they just include batter price to the final sale price? Because they know that will price their car out of range and uncompetitive. So they come up with this scheme as they are buying times to cut cost to stay competitive. This has always been their biz tactic. Vingroup tries to be everything to everyone, and the company's historical record shows that there are many misteps, recalled Vinsmart/Vinmart/Vin ect? Let's see how their EV performs in a few yrs before I put my $ down. There are plenty of choices out there coming from proven record, established brands. BTW, Toyota just unveils its BZ4X which is a direct competitor to VF8. For the same amount of $, I'll take BZ4X in a heartbeat.

I elaborated on another comment I think VF is *way* ahead of the curve on one thing - and that is ownership of the batteries to recycle them. With the expolsion of EVs we'll see more and more complaints from environmentalists about the impact of used batteries, and I think VFs move here puts them 5-10 years ahead of others.

You mentioned the VW id.4 but the $41k is for the rear wheel drive only. The AWD is about $46k. The base model V8 come with AWD, dual motor standard and is far sportier then the id.4 which has had some lack luster reviews when it comes to performance. Also, you mentioned the Mach E and again ignored that the price you are referencing is single motor, RWD. The most inexpensive Mach E AWD starts around $58k. If you're going to try to make comparisons at least make it apples to apples here If the Vinfast fit and finish live up to what we've seen so far, $41k for a dual wheel drive, feature filled EV is pretty damn good.

I was comparing base-spec vs base price. I hesitate to try to compare similarily equipped prices because at the time of recording (or even now) final equipment and the actual performance of that equipment on the Vinfast is unknow. Heck, in the initial drives the cars don't even have regenerative braking. Also if we want to do apples to apples then also consider the VF doesn't include the battery price. The first model year (or 2) they will only come with a battery lease, but VinFast is planning on later model years to offer the battery as a purchase. That's expected to be in the neighborhood of $10k. So that ID4 may still be less expensive, perhaps less exciting, and maybe less equipped with tech, but also less expensive. Ultimately, we don't know who the VF will perform, the quality, the tech so apples-to-apples is impossible. Besides, my point in this video was the VF seems a bit less expensive, but not exactly a raging bargin.

Good video. The battery lease program is a bit wonky. I get all the math part. But wondering how many buyers will keep the car past 10 years? As others mentioned. So how can you sell the car to a third party and convince the buyer to engage on a lease for a used car?

The renting the battery part is confusing and I think it will turn off a lot of people. With a 10 year warranty and renting the battery sure you don’t have to worry about maintenance but how many people want to keep a car ten years ? The cars are nice looking but will have to be a very good value in terms of cost for someone to take the plunge on a brand new brand .The cars will be made in USA and I assume in a union factory so should get a good rebate to make more attractive. One thing never mentioned and as someone who has never had an EV is the cost to charge for example what does it cost in electricity to drive say 100 miles to compare to gas . Same here. I love my Model 3, but I have a baby on the way and we'll need a larger car to accommodate the 3 of us along with our 100lb dog. Model Ys are way too expensive right now. I was looking at the ID4 Pro S which seems like a pretty decent vehicle after tax credit. I also placed my reservation for Vinfast because of the reservation voucher, the tax credits, and a vacation. A lot of startups are releasing lofty whitepapers about products and tech, and then go nowhere. You don't actually deduct the $7500 with the price of the car. What you need is a tax rebate. You should ask the company if they have that. Claiming the Federal Tax Credit A tax credit means an EV buyer will receive up to a $7,500 reduction in their tax liability for the year. But this is a flat credit, which means it is only worth the full $7,500 if the individual’s tax bill is at least $7,500. If an EV buyer has a tax bill of, say, $3,000 at the end of the year, the EV tax credit can only be a maximum of $3,000. The IRS will not go over and above this total tax liability figure, and in this example, the remaining $4,500 of the EV’s total tax credit will not be useable. Furthermore, that unused portion will not apply to future years’ taxes. Claiming the federal tax credit occurs when filing a yearly tax return. The IRS has included a section that addresses the purchase of electric vehicles. Like anything else tax-related, it is best to consult an accountant or tax expert to claim an EV tax credit correctly.

@@pacificobernardo463 yep, that I knew, thanks for the share. I'm self-employed and always pay more than $10k in taxes each year, so in my mind it's just $10k that I can save on. W2 employees should definitely consult with an accountant to determine how the fed/state tax credits would apply

Stealerships were already out of control and now with EVs they have taken it to a new level, expect a 10k markup at Ford, VW and Hyundai the ladder of which are not made in the US. The software in the ID4 still doesn"t work properly and probably never will. Battery technology is constantly improving so down the road you at least have a chance to get better range with no degradation. It's my understanding Vinfast will use direct sales. I've been a Tesla shareholder since 2013 so I like the model Y comparison because no car company can compete with FSD and over the air updates. My wife however doesn't care about those features so I put my deposit on the VF8 for her. The $1,200 home charger incentive along with the ADAS and Smart Services Package are a big plus!

The AWD Mach E of comparable horsepower is not $44k. That's for a RWD Select base model, which is down over 100 hp. You have to go to Premium trim and option the upgraded motor and AWD to get 2 less horsepower than the base Vinfast (all VF8's are AWD). That car starts at $57k.

I really like the look and design of the VF9, so I put a deposit down and an early adopter. Been reading a ton of reviews, and then opening 500 dealerships in California. This makes sense as it’s a heavy EV market. They haven’t said anything about configuring and building the car yet to your specs, Have they? I don’t see It on their website. When will the configurator go live? With the NC manufacturing plant, that’s a Solid move. The total costs don’t seem that bad, but I am a bit skeptical about the battery leasing program!

Many EV cars that exist today like Tesla that have 70 percent or less battery life are now popping up at local used car lots. So if you buy one of those cars you will have to buy a very expensive battery sooner than you think? By leasing the battery you can guarantee a new battery whenever it reaches the 70% battery life in a VinFast… Ford had has had many cases with the batteries and you gotta wonder if it was covered free of charge under Ford warranty? So swapping a leased battery might be the best way to go? It will be very interesting to see what customers will be saying about this battery lease program by the end of ‘2022 and going into ‘2023? Just my own personal opinion on this subject.

The Tesla is not comparable to the larger SUV at all. Also, the ones you mention (Mach E, VW, etc) are not really premium, it remains to be seen how premium the VF8 will be. The expectation is that the VF8 will be more premium than those cars.

Anyone can make a pretty concept to show around. But this brand has yet to establish itself. Obviously we have no quality or durability history. Do we know anything about the technology they use in their batteries? After-sale support is a big question. And unlike the Japanese or Koreans, this brand is trying to enter the market in the premium segment? Good luck with that. If their pricing was at least 20K lower, then maybe the risk would be easier to swallow, but not at their announced pricing levels. And to honest their design did not wow me either. Yes some design elements were fresh and interesting, but the overall picture is a mixed bag for me. Could this brand be a rebadged Chinese car maker?
