I heard this tune on di.fm today. I was definitely feeling the beat, but when the break in the middle came in and the melody from the intro came back, I was so pumped to hear that with the beat. Then at 5:48 there was no melody anymore and it was pretty much exactly like 3:00 but with a few added drums in the background. This has been a staple for prog psy and fullon for like 2-3 years now, why is it so taboo to have a melody with the beat? What is the point to introduce something with a buildup, only to remove what was played during the buildup? Where is the climax of the song supposed to be? Don't get me wrong - the beat is crazy good, I just wish there was more played during it.

That's a great comment ! I see what you mean. My opinion would be that having a raw beat at the start of the drop can be very nice, impressive or even mindblowing. But indeed, it shouldn't keep the artists from progressively putting back the other elements, including melodic ones, that they have introduced in the song. This could eventually lead to the "climax" you were looking for.

I honestly like the stripped down natural of trance, it gives you a sense of predictability, then when a curveball is thrown, it really takes you aback and puts a smile on your face, because you thought you had it figured out
