I appreciate the detail you put into it man but what you said at 1:14 kind of spoiled that Ketil wasn't a great guy for me, I was only meaning the watch the first few minutes of the recap since it has been a while since I watched the first few episodes and didn't want to start from scratch. That kind of let me know he would turn into a not so great guy which ended up being true episode 19. Just a heads up, just feel like it would be better if you didn't mention that twist so early into the recap

I see now that some 1st season watcher does not like the 2nd season. And i'm disappointed. But who am i to judge? I think the 2nd season is better because it expand more about thorfinn character. After thorfinn only purpose in life died down (killing askeladd), the question next is literally what should thorfinn do next? It just doesnt make sense for thorfinn to just goes back to war... to just goes back to fighting, especially the fact that askeladd is already dead and canute punish thorfinn by making him a slave. That is why season 2 purpose is to answer the question of what should thorfinn do next?

Second of all: The one who complain about the lack of battle scene is only seeing the surface and not considering the character real battle. Thorfinn vs his sin and past Olma vs what is need to be a real man Canute vs the viking culture And other character battle... because you know why this battle is more important? Because in the end, Action scene is only a way to tell a story. A good action might entertain the eye but why the action happen... the context behind the action scene will enrich the action scene even more. Fine ill admit it lack action but in return it giving us something important. That is *the reason* why the character throw themselve in the battle.

@@TripleA_1010 the dialogue is incredible, the storytelling is incredible, the characters are incredible, all of it is amazing. no piece of media has made my grown ass cry more than watching thorfinn blossom into his true self and embrace his father’s ideology episode by episode. if you can’t look past the lack of action and see the incredible story unfolding before you regardless, then i pray you get better because you are missing out on something truly amazing.

I dont know I feel likes yes it makes sense someone like thorfinn could become a pacisfist and yes one king he knows from his story respecting it but in the long run it should not work but id does because of plot armor, I liked the aninme the way it showed that you can be strong as you want but time is the only one never losing either you lose to old age or you lose in battle nothing is safe and that is how the world is.

I honestly watched the 99% of the season just to decide to stop after ep. 23. I was done with all the talking. I get it character development but to see thorfinn turn into a jesus like messiah was annoying considering his past. Makes sense but I don't have to watch it. Will not finish this anime. It's okay but definitely not the best that I've seen.

It’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea and that’s okay. A lot of s1 viewers tuned in for s2 expecting for violence/gorey stuff like season 1, but the focus shifted to thorfinn’s journey of self-discovery, how to navigate his own life after losing his sense of purpose from season 1. He committed a lot of violence which stemmed from his hatred for askeladd in the hopes that he was able to avenge thor’s death, but now askeladd has died, what’s the purpose of keeping his angry, cruel viking persona when he could strive to be a decent person ? It’s not like he’s turned to a complete pacifist anyway, he did fight snake to fend for gardar. He’s just learning to become a proper warrior who doesn’t resort to violence every second

The side characters were way more interesting than the main characters. This season would've been a masterpiece if thorfin awoken his killer instincts and mercks all them vikings in revenge for the slave girl.
