@vinesaucefullsauce You totally missed the creepy thing about the black knight satellite. Unlike every other satellite known to man, which rotates east to west. The black knight satellite rotates around us north to south. Only satellite in our entire galaxy known to do so. Which is why there is a lot of conspiracy around it. If you think about how gravity works, and why things rotate the way they do... it stands out as a bit more than just eerie and odd.

Tsuchinoko is a Japanese cryptid which is a giant stumpy snake. When you google image Tsuchinoko one of the images is a Skink with their tiny legs removed in photoshop. You can find the non-edited image when you just google Skink or Blue tongued Skink. Obviously the entire myth is either some random japanese villager seeing a Skink, panicking and exaggerating the story or simply seeing a snake that has eaten a rabbit and doing the same. And over time they add obvious mythological aspects as the stories are retold. That specific example has shown me the clear path in which cryptids sink into the zeitgeist

That being said, I love to read about them, I love ghost stories, and I love to hear about stories despite not necessarily being able to cross over into the believer territory. Something that's important to note is that these photos don't have to be hoaxes to not be depicting the claimed cryptids. Photographs aren't perfect representations of reality and they only show one snapshot in time from one perspective, so it's easy to get a photo that looks like something paranormal despite it actually being something mundane. I feel like a lot of people looking at these sorts of pictures/videos get stuck thinking of them in binary terms, where it's either a genuine photo of the claimed thing, or a hoax, when in reality there tons of potential explanations for them that are neither of those things. It can get really frustrating when people fixate on stuff like "why would they lie?" as if that's the only other explanation for them other than the paranormal explanation when there are so many, many other potential explanations. They can be not lying, and it can also not be a bigfoot. Both of these things can be true.

Fun trivia: Not only were there hyenas historically in North America, there were also lions! The American Lion, Panthera atrox, was significantly larger than their modern relatives and lived 340,000 to 12,800 years ago. Also, wooly mammoths still existed over a thousand years after the pyramids of Giza were built!

@animeloveer97 Mountain lions don't count. They're closer to housecats than big cats. They belong to subfamily Felinae, the small cats with a hyoid bone making them able to purr. Big cats belong to subfamily Pantherinae, big cats lacking a hyoid bone that roar. The American lion is an extinct big cat in the Panthera genus.

It's always a nice strangely comforting feeling to look back at these and have someone normal/rational talk about and relate to them too despite the spooky and bs aura. I mentioned this in one of Joel's streams but an old video I enjoy is one called "Bigfoot caught on tape" with a usual thumbnail then when you watch it it's literally a big foot trying to get tape off of it. Also the 2000 florida video just reminds me of that weird funny movie from around the time with friendly bigfoot and thug 2 lol. It's me! Bigface!

41:30 It was explained actually, USSR launched satellite Kosmos-955 at the same time as these sightings were reported in the near cities and officials said it was meteorites because the space station existence was classified. "Unexplained to this day" my ass
@warsaw15486 ай бұрын
Kosmos-955 was launched on the same day, September 20, 1977, but it was definitely not the cause of this phenomenon. First of all, Kosmos-955 was not a space station, it was a satellite. Second of all, it's existence and launch were not classified. It was reported immediately by TASS (telegraph agency of the Soviet Union) in major journalistic and scientific publications of the USSR. Third, the phenomenon was visible as much as two hours before the launch of Kosmos-955. Fourth, spacecraft are launched and travel in a northeastern direction, due to the direction of the rotation of the Earth. The phenomenon traveled in a southwestern direction. Fifth, the preliminary report for "Official Use Only" assembled by the Soviet civilian scientists of meteorology, astronomy, and physics wholeheartedly rejected the theory about Kosmos-955 being the cause. Stating reasons given above, and for the fact that the grand scope and character of the event was too great to have been caused by technical experiments involving satellites and their orbits.

Well, didn't think I'd hear about Ol' Rip on Vinny's Cryptid stream... As wild as it sound reading it with no context, it's treated similarly to Santa in the town: The stories make no sense and are crazy, but it makes for a good mascot and as a good story to tell kids, so no one questions it... and if they do, they kinda get treated like an asshole. It's sorta like if you went to Loch Ness and started screaming about how it's all fake: You end up looking like the idiot in that situation. The whole thing can basically be summed up as "It's a small, rural town, and having a town mascot was a thing at the time." No idea why they put it in the cornerstone time capsule. Stories are sorta conflicted on it. I've heard that it just sorta climbed in before the cornerstone was put in and no one noticed... or that it was done intentionally because someone thought it'd be a "neat" thing to do. It's fairly widely reported that it did just hibernate for that long... but also it's pretty likely that someone just cracked the capsule open early and swapped it out because it'd make a good story. Most people are indifferent to it, but it's still at the court house. Or at least the custom made coffin they had made for him is. Every year, they do a whole festival around the thing, mostly as an excuse to have a town festival, do a parade, that sort of thing. For those who don't know about horned lizards, btw, they're actually pretty weird. Their blood has some toxins in it that serves as deterrent for predators... and they can shoot blood out of their eyes when threatened. So, while not a cryptid, pretty weird animal, all in all. They're considered a Threatened species, and it's pretty rare to come across one now.

Whichever chat member said the stuff at around 29:00, I will throw hands over that. It's not a matter of being smart, it's a matter of which classes were available to you and your strong suits. That sounded like some advanced biology stuff, and I never had advanced biology available to me because I took other classes like health/medical stuff at a career center instead. If you were smart you would've known that. Vinny is very smart in the areas he's passionate about, and this video shows that he's also willing to learn more! He's never seen most of these pictures before, and he's learning about a lot of cryptids!

@@jira6423 I personally live in the USA, so I never got to learn those things in Elementary school. @@jira6423 I only learned about protists in my aforementioned medical career center, because of different types of infections being caused by them. How my high school worked was that you could choose to go to a separate school for the first half, which was the career center, then go to the usual high school. Before high school, there was no mention of different forms of life, and we just had general science classes all throughout elementary and middle. Because I chose the career center, none of the advanced biology or even regular biology classes aligned with my schedule. I only got environmental science, and passed my biology finals and graduated high school because the medical career center mentioned most of the questions.

4:40 strange how this one is more plausible only because we have a weird rhesus monkey population here in Florida. Sarasota is a little far from Silver Springs where the largest troops are, but they've been sighted all over north and central florida. I can't explain if that gray stuff next to the face looks like matted orangutan fur or some vegetation. I'd venture a strong possibility that this is one of those rhesus monkeys because the toothy grin we see is actually a fear response used by most macaque species.

Interesting things about Nessie & similar prehistoric cryptids is that they change their appearance to match with up how prehistoric animals look in popular movies. If you look up descriptions of Nessie pre-Surgeon's photo & they vary from nasty blob thing to a camel-like creature. Then Surgeon's photo appears not too long after King Kong is released, which features a Brontosaurus in a lake eating sailors & a plesiosaur attacking Kong. Yeah, I don't think that's a coincidence.
