其實我都係六十後老人家，加上對腳已經出現問題，所以住 house 要每日上落樓梯 N 次，一定係唔適合。 故若我移民英國，一定只會住有電梯的 apartment! 😜🤪🤪🤪

Extreme cases are all over the world, everywhere. Talking about extreme cases like the richest and the poorest doesn't help for the most common people to picture the most common outcomes. Otherwise, the Medium (the middlemost value) figures had to be throwing into garbage. BTW, San Francisco is a prime area just like Manhattan, London, Tokyo, Taipei and HK that high living cost is expected which is not fair comparing to all the places over the country for the newcomers to choose from and settle.

I believe No one would argue Most of the Hongkongers agreed that Living in a large house (says 3 bedrooms) is a huge living improvement (生活質素會大躍進) So U go see how many percentage of 4 ppl family living in a 3 bedrooms+ in HK, and how many 4 ppl family living in the same in the USA/UK? and You will see where is having a better quality of living which is not 痴人說夢. That's that simple. Let me tell u that in 2021 Census of UK, 89% of houses are 3 bedrooms+. 😂 BTW, I'm also living long enough in the USA to see many newcomers to make a better life and moving into a larger house after some years of normal working. So?

Town House雖有三層，亦有三至四房，但地下無浴室亦無睡房，長者年紀大要住在二樓，，上上落落易跌倒，怎辦？買過另一間、談何容易！可在花園用 Caravan Act 條例建造花園屋，可拆可搬的那種設計, 不用申請 Planning Permission ,，由三個 8‘ x 12' 可拆可搬的預製件組裝成12 x 8 x 3個,Ｌ字型, 面積約300呎, 三四曰就起貨,有open plan kitchen + lounge, 有 shower room, bedroom, 賣價約70,000英鎊. 好過上屋搬下屋, 已經唔見左好為錢, 再俾non first time buyer 的 3% stamp duty, 隨時拾幾萬, 即500,000 - 600,000x 3%=GBP15,000 - 18,000. 仲有地產佣金又1.5 -2%, 已經係20多萬HK$了. 我搵到Booths Garden Studio 起了一閒8' x12' garden office, ６個鐘就砌好,兩三曰後來駁電就用得→For Work from Home ,好正, $?→HK$拾五六萬有交易,快,靚,正.→自己上網搵。祝福大家 : 安居樂業, 家和萬事興,啊!

我好小比comment. 但你這一節做得非常好，非常之到謂。百分百對五十至六十歲考慮的移民人士一個非常好的資料。我看見好多人考慮住detached 因一生人都未住過。如有同中少年人一同住，就okay. 但一一個或一對老人家就認真要考慮。跟你說一樣，主要是detached / terraced house保養問題, 方便上落樓層問題。至於apartment,就是management fee 問題.....。anyway, 做得好👍👍👍👍

People who bought larger houses can't afford to pay for the heating to heat the house. What is the point? Buyer need to assess their affordability before spending every pennies onto a larger property and can't afford to pay for the heating.

Town House is not suitable for elderly or even adult. It's so called 1200 sq. ft but it divided into 3 levels hence each level has just 400 sq.ft. Definitely a trap! "Bungalow" is the one and only house type for elderly if they wanna buy a house instead of apartment which is a small house or cottage that is only single-story!!

Majority of Hong Kong people are used to living in apartments, with lifts! Some apartments in the UK may have air condition systems, most may have balconies that will provide good insulations, ventilations and natural lights that will all help to reduce energy costs.

House 或者排屋都唔適合老人家，有老人或殘疾人仕住 apartment 或排屋地面果層會好D，apartment 其實係好住D，一般 apartment 頂層都會有5房4廁或更多嘅單位，我住果度頂層係十八呎樓底六房五廁，業主係華人，套房形式分租畀其他人。 保安上面 apartment 會比較好啲，喺英國好少見 apartment 被爆格，但D house 嘅門，搵個人大隻少少一腳都踢得開隻門，基本上係0保安，雖然唔使管理費，但係都要收垃圾費，又要時不時掃門口同除草，一個唔覺意有日本虎仗仲趴街。

其實這種情況香港都不少,像一些老人家住唐樓就有此問題,所以是買家沒有經驗或忽略人會變老,以香港為例,不少唐樓的老人家可能連大廈翻新或自家裝修也沒資金,賣樓根本不可能換新樓,結果每天要走上走落多層樓梯,有些腳痛甚至盡量不外出。

Some builders used to build streets and the best one was kept for his family - you can tell it was the builders house as this was slightly different, may have a bay window etc. A solution for the pensioner who can’t go upstairs is to install a stair lift.
