My friend, you just ripped a $1000 bill nearly in half....yes, I'd say you're ABSOLUTELY FIRED!!! Sad to say you didn't have the foresight to package all of these tags into a clear sealable pack for some protection. The "Sweet Cherry" poster has been hanging in my guitar room for 30 years now. She is an anomaly. In my estimation, she is so high above any surviving 1958-1960 Les Paul Standard as to get a nose bleed. Her lineage is astonishing. Aside from the torn credential, thank you for sharing this priceless beauty!

God, I CRAVE that guitar - what a beautiful, original instrument from a bygone age. In addition, you played it like it should be played - clean, articulate and with no gain, either amp or pedal. What a beauty!

I owned a factory bright red LP Deluxe in the mid-'70's that was also stunning. Of course, it was a Norlin era thing and way downstream from that '58, but it still had a great vibe. I miss it.

That’s cool but the “Mr dealer” tag would not have been original from this guitar, being supposedly the first ever red Les Paul if you believe the hype, they would not have had the ‘feedback’ yet about fading analine dyes so why would there have been a Mr dealer tag? To me this means likely the case candy has been assembled after the fact to provide a complete picture.
@joemenza66336 ай бұрын
It was in the case with the other candy. Was the Mr. Dealer card only for the red analine die? Not sure when this "warning" became standard as I've seen many earlier 50s goldtops with a square "shadow" of the toggle tag, meaning the guitar was displayed in the sunny store window and the finish darkened around the tag, thus ruining a new guitar's finish and causing problems and inevitable discounts . Also, this guitar was sold later in 1958 after traveling with the sales force and being used as a demo at seminars. Probably after cherry Jrs and sunburst standards were readily available.
